We did another panel in Boston and recorded it just for you!

We had a fantastic time on our second annual live panel at PAX East, and here's the audio to prove it. This recording is provided by the PAX Enforcers, recorded directly from the mixing board. Listen as we discuss hopes and dreams for Nintendo's next console, plus our favorite GBA games on the handhelds's 10th anniversary.

In the action-packed Q&A segment, we answer numerous questions from the live audience while Michael "TYP" Cole plays disc jockey for a simultaneous version of Radio Trivia, with fabulous prizes! We even got a question from a certain Greg Leahy, who was listening to the live stream. Thanks to everyone who was able to come and participate in Boston! See you again next year!

We taped it, but it could be a while before that footage is available. If you have any interest in getting the panel within the next week, this is pretty much the only way to go. If you can wait it out, we'll have video, yeah.

If you're really hardcore, you can try the Ustream recording and play the audio in the background.

Listening to it right now and you probably already know this but... I think it was a mistake to play the bgm during the Q&A.

Straining a little to hear the voices while it's playing.

Maybe next year alternate with a question, then immediately blast a song for 30 seconds and ask the audience to wave their arms around and shout out the answer if they know it, then take the next question, and so on. Just kind of lightning round through the whole process.

(Preferably giving away t-shirts with a t-shirt bazooka.)

Yeah, we can definitely streamline the trivia process. I was thinking we could do a lighting-round instant "name the song" and then move on to the next topic. Regardless of what we do, it will be better next time.

Awesome panel though...I totally enjoyed it, and huge thanks to everybody that came out to check it out, hang out with us, and enjoy our little corner of the universe. I wish we could do it for more than an hour, but them's the breaks.

Here's a great picture of most of the crew (sans Lindemann, who I believe was in the bathroom down the hall at the time, as well as Lauren who was taking the picture, I think) post-panel. Right afterwards we had an AMAZING lunch in Chinatown.

I haven't listened yet but it's possible the sound levels were a bit off for the music vs. dialogue. I'm sorry to read listeners online didn't like it. I thought that overall the trivia went well, though I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't turn out so well on the podcast feed. (I *do* spend several hours editing Radio Trivia, which I couldn't for this live panel.) We'll definitely try a different format next time.

I thought the music mix level was good, but the voice mix was uneven; in particular, Jonny's voice was far too quiet. I assume that's the fault of the "PAX Enforcers."

Enjoyed the podcast. Agree with the guy who said it felt like it when by too quick. Shame the panel didn't get a better caliber of questioners. LOL at the guy who asked about Mother 3, he asked if the crew played it in Japanese (which of course they didn't) and then boasted that his friend did. He isn't even bigging himself up, he's talking about something his friend did. And they guy who matter of factly announced that the music was from Kirby's Adventure only to be put in his place by the reveal that it was from Kirby's Epic Yarn. I'll eat my iPod if that guy doesn't have greasy black hair, glasses and a skinny pasty face.
Anywho, as for the Nintendo 6, it doesn't need a remote shaped controller to backwards compatible, all it needs is an interface that can take a Wii remote and sensor bar.

I thought the panel was a lot of fun! I agree that the live radio trivia portion was slightly chaotic (people weren't sure whether to shout out the answer, cut in front of a questioner at the mic to give the answer, wait for the panel to finish answering a question, etc) but it seemed to work out fine.

I brought my gf Julia with me to the panel. It was her first ever video game podcast and she got to see it live! I am so glad I took her to see you guys first, because she had a blast (especially at lunch afterward) and now wants to listen to RFN! We also went to the IGN podcast, but she was totally bored at that one, considering they focused almost exclusively on in-jokes that even I did not get some of the time.

For anyone that hasn't had the opportunity to meet the NWR crew, they are a very cool group of people who are as interesting and fun as you might expect. It was also great to have the chance to chat with some fellow listeners after the panel. It was these kinds of experiences that really made the weekend great. This was my first PAX, but now I am convinced me that I need to make this a yearly trip

I'm in the middle of the podcast and am not having any problem with the background trivia music. I thought it worked fine. Of course it will sound slightly chaotic to someone who wasn't there but its more than tolerable; entertaining even. Congrats to all.

Just curious how many folk showed up in the audience? Last year was a bit sparse. Was attendance up this time?

Good podcast. LOL at the guy who refused to believe his answer was wrong for the Kirby's Epic Yarn radio trivia. That music is so damn memorable, how could you not recognize it? (other than if you hadn't played it, obviously).

Attendance actually went up quite a bit. Last year there was no line at all and we basically just had a nice stream of trickle-ins. This year the line actually wrapped back around. The enforcers had a count of around 80 people who came in during the beginning, but that doesn't count the people who came in after it got started. Definitely a nice step up from last year.

I think it's safe to say that RFN Live will be a yearly institution at PAX East from here on out.

How the hell can an INDEPENDENT podcast have better audio quality on their PAXEast panel, than Joystiq's "professional" podcast at the same event.
