Nintendogs + Cats Breed Lists Revealed
« on: February 11, 2011, 11:42:05 PM »

Which dog goes with which game in the Japanese releases.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/25343

Nintendo opened their Japanese website for Nintendogs + Cats recently, showing a summary of what is known about the game so far, videos of the Japanese commercials, intriguingly cute pictures of cartridges, and a breed list for each game. There are lists of different dogs for each version of the game, and a summary about the cats.

Each game has nine dog breeds available at the start. Within the breeds there are slight differences in hair colour and body shape in each pet. The full set of 27 breeds can be unlocked through continuing play or through StreetPass. It's possible to have three puppies or kittens at one time in a room.

In terms of cats, there are three types and they are the same in all versions. The website shows a tabby, a Siamese, and a long-haired cat. As you progress through the game you earn the ability to bring up your own kittens. You can select from a handful of fur patterns. Kittens will take naps on the windowsill and between book cases, use their claws, and climb scratching posts. Cats will do their own thing regardless of you or your puppies, leading to a carefree coexistence.

The list of games and starting dog breeds is below.

Mini Schnauzer

Bull Terrier

Shiba and Friends (Golden Retriever and Friends for US/Europe)

I detect that cats were an afterthought in this game. As the insane cat man that I man, that upsets me. It's not like there aren't breeds of cats. There are a lot of them!

If you read the Iwata Asks you'll understand about the cats. http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interview.html#/how-nintendo-3ds-made/3/0

Miyamoto has a cat too.

Interesting that they changed the lead dog for Japan and US/Eur.

I have a mixed-breed Shiba Inu (just called a "Shiba" in Jpse, Inu means dog) and they are very common here, probably because they're medium-sized and adorable.
A Golden Retriever on the other hand wouldn't fit in a typical Jpse apartment!

Funny how you can kind of "design" your own cat with the fur patterns.

They did the same thing last go-around...
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

i really hope they dramatically improve upon and deepen the gameplay. This game looks identical to the original just with 3d upgraded graphics and cats. I heard Kinectimals and Eye Pet for Move is actually a much more interesting pet simulator, so competition should inspire better products....

Thanx for the pics and cat info! I have finally been able to determin which version of the game I want to get...French Bulldog, for the Husky, German Shephard, & Sheepdog. I am comforted knowing that I can get the tabby and Siamese cats from this version as well. Now I can put it on my wishlist for my birthday and not have to worry about getting the wrong version, yay!

I noticed it's the only Nintendogs breed that has its own Kanji.
