It's just rumored at this point, but in the new Gamepro, I believe, it says that Nintendo will be showing Metroid: Zero Mission and a new Mario Kart for the GBA at E3. If it's true, it's certainly good news. Any thoughts?

Well, it would make sense, as I am sure that Nintendo wants to have games that uplink to the GCN for the new Metroid and Mario Kart games.

Exactly what  was thinking, Ninja. I'm under the impression the Prime-Fusion hook up went really well and Nintendo wants to replicate that success not only for Metroid a second time, but for Mario Kart.

it would be great to get more games, but i don't think it is neccessary to make them just for a GBA to GCN connection. Can't they just program Mario Kart Double Dash to recognize that the old GBA mario kart game has had data that the person beated the game? I might be wrong, but can't the cube mario kart game just connect to the gameboy version, even if it is old, or does that gba version need to have the ability to connect to the cube programmed into it?

hopefully if a new metroid is in the works for gba it will be more like super metroid
now i loved fusion and it was loads of fun- but the story thing didnt work as well for me
i know i am not the only one that feels this way
if you play fusion then play super metroid- you will see the difference- super metroid doesnt have the best story but the game is very non linear
hopefully if there is a new one it will be more open ended and non linear than fusion (you find the upgrades, not just upload them)
i call the big one bitey.

yeah, im with rpglover, im loving fusion (haven't finnished it yet) but its not really the true metroid format (not that its a bad thing) perhaps an adventure to a new planet is in order for samus? roamimg about discovering upgrades and thwarting some form of evil plot, as shes so adept at doing

okay.  metroid prime was my first metroid game .  i was great, and everyone said it was really like a true metroid game.  well, i liked it, but to me, it didn't deliver what i expected.  metroid fusion, the different one, i found much more enjoyable.  is there anybody else who feels this way?

Metroid Fusion's definitely an incredibly good game, but it was a bit too linear and way too short to make it the best Metroid. KnowsNothing, you really need to play Super Metroid. If you liked Pime and Fusion, you'll love Super Metroid.

i tried to buy a SNES with super metroid and other classics (mario, starfox, zelda) but i ended up winning the games and not the system.  so i told the guy i was an 11 year old from Ohio and i didn't know what i was doing.  he stopped emailing me after that... Oh, and i onlocked the original metroid from the metroid prime/fusion connection and it was horrible.  just thought i'd add that.

An SNES shouldn't be hard to pick up- I know a lot of Gamestop stores (Babbages/Software Etc.) have SNES's for sale, as does EBay. But were you actually 11 years old then?

Of course you're going to think the original sucked, though, if you play it AFTER Fusion and Prime, which are so much more advanced. You have to pkay it first to have the respect a lot of Metroid fans have for it. Super Metroid is just incredible, though.

MarioKart: DD (or Metroid Prime 2--I'm considering that the name just for the sake of this topic) could be programmed to recognize MarioKart: Super Circuit (or Metroid Fusion) from the GBA; however, that would be the near extent of it.  In order for various bits of information to be transferred successfully, MarioKart: SC would need that specific part of the code programmed in it.  Without that, the possibilities of the connection would be extremely limited, if not non-existant.

I agree about Metroid Fusion not staying true to the series roots. I actually felt that Metroid Prime did a much better job of representing what the Metroid series is about than Fusion. Anyway if this new Metroid GBA thing is true and it will be called Zero Mission who else thinks it could be a prequel to Metroid? I feel that way because Metroid would be Samus's first mission so Zero Mission could be referring to the fact that it takes place before Metroid. Of course it could mean something totally different but who knows.

it could be literal... she has zero missions, meaning its really open ended and you basically persue bounty's across the galaxy.. and it could be different every time you play, a bit hard todo on gameboy advance possibly... but hey, its a thought

A new GBA Metroid already?  Remember when we went through 8 years without a Metroid game?

Considering another Cube Metroid game has been announced I guess it's reasonable to assume another GBA game is in the works.  Of course just because they could be working on one doesn't mean that it'll come out any time soon.  At least I hope not.  Metroid isn't the type of series that should have a new game released every year.

Many of the ending artwork pieces, especially in the Japanese version of Fusion, focused on Samus' past and early years, perhaps the game will feature Samus in her roots, developing the skills we've known her for?

Or maybe it's just a cool name.

i figure it would take place AFTER metroid fusion.

Just so they could re-use the crappy new suit design >.> i hate it.

anyway, i haven't heard *ANYTHING* bout a metroid game called "zero mission" not one tiny even rumor, where did you get that information.

My favorite metroid games, are in order.
Metroid Prime, Super Metroid(3), Metroid Fusion(4), Metroid 2,  original metroid (1)

I honestly disliked the original metroid also, and i enjoy metroid 2 becuase it was one of my very first games =).

Metroid prime seems much more like a metroid than metroid fusion did, both are AMAZING games however.  (I turned off the "hint" system in prime, it made it too easy)

On a related note: I have beat metroid fusion twice in the last 2 days, something about metroid games... just as fun to play through again, and again.. (this was my 10th time through fusion)

New Mario Kart? that might be.. interesting, but i also haven't heard anything of that (outside of double dash) and i personally don't care for it much.

I think this pic will convince you, Syl:

Metroid: Zero Mission logo!

The picture is the first one in the second row. It was taken by Gamespot at Nintendo's E3 booth.

the ironic thing is...

is that picture only on gamespot to smite me? i haven't been able to see any images on gamespot for the past year or so, always just the little X in the top corner.

Anyway, im all for metroid games... i just hope its closer to the roots than fusion was.  and get back on a planet!

You can't see Gamespot pics? I can copy and paste it into an email if you want me to. It's basically a pic of a banner in Nintendo's booth with the logos of several games, including Metroid: Zero Mission and the new Donkey Kong Country.

I got this from someone in the Gamecube forum here on pgc...
This assumes that you have windows XP, i don't know a fix for any other windows (if they're different):

go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, open a file called HOSTS, and search for lines that say "image.com.com".  Delete those lines.  It'll work (but it seems like Gamespot is getting POUNDED on the bandwidth and going madly slow).

edit: This is to fix the pictures on Gamespot, in case you couldn't tell.
What, you thought you wasn't gonna see me?  I'm the Osiris of this s**t.

New Donkey Kong Country? Don't you mean port of the old Donkey Kong Country?
