WiiWare Demo Service Starts in Europe
« on: November 02, 2010, 04:09:38 PM »

Four demos available as the service launches for the European Wii Shop Channel.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/24389

Starting November 5, the European Wii Shop Channel will feature ongoing downloadable WiiWare game demos. The demos will be free of charge and available to download for limited periods of time as the selection is updated.

Demos for Furry Legends, Jett Rocket, Zombie Panic in Wonderland, and Nintendo's ThruSpace, the 3D puzzle title released on the Japanese service in September, will be available at the launch of the service this week. The full version of ThruSpace will be released this week as part of the Weekly Downloads.

Current free demos will be listed at wiiware.nintendo.co.uk and the Wii Shop Channel.

I think I'll download all of them just because I can. Really though, the only game that I may put in the points for is Jett Rocket. This year's selection (...) of demos doesn't appear to be as good as last year's.

This is great news. It sounds like they plan to have demos indefinitely now, just a rotating selection. I don't understand why some demos need to be removed in order to add new ones, but at least the program itself isn't temporary, like last time.

The American branch should announce something similar very soon. I would definitely like to try ThruSpace and Jett Rocket, but Dive would also be a good choice.

Is that confirmed? The sceptic in me doesn't believe Nintendo will perpetuate the demo service, if prior attitudes are anything to go by, but I'd be happy if they proved me wrong.

^It's in the Press Release

Quote from: Press Release
Every WiiWare demo featured on the Wii Shop Channel will be available for a limited time only ensuring the line-up is constantly kept refreshed to provide players with a varied and entertaining experience. Players will be able to see the WiiWare demos currently available for download via a dedicated list on wiiware.nintendo.co.uk as well as on the Wii Shop Channel itself.

in other words, the selection will continually be refreshed with new content.

But I'm also puzzled as to why the older demos would need to be removed. Why couldn't they just have a *Featured Demos* section at the top of the Demo Channel and then all the older demos listed below like they do with the VC selection when you go into the WiiShop? or even better, just make the demo another button on the games page and then you don't have to remove it completely, it just won't be "featured" anymore.

I hope the demos will be available this Monday in North America, I'm interested in trying out Jett Rocket.
