I would like a moment of silence for my cube :(
« on: April 28, 2003, 08:33:54 AM »
It just passed away. None of my games work, and im pretty sure my Zelda is the cause of it. It was chuggin along fine, until i got Zelda, now i am at the end of the game, and the gamecube refuses to read any disk. The worst part is, I wont be able to get a new Cube for another month, and i cant even get a new color. This my first system to break ever (i dont have ps2), and i still cant believe it happend to my Nintendo. I wouldve expected it from my X-box, but this!

did you call Nintendo's tech support? They might be able to replace it if your system is under warranty.

It s not under waranty, and with the rumor of the Cube goin down to 100 dollars, id rather just get a new one. I got this one the day it came out, so id probably be better off gettin a new one anyway.

It would be cheaper to send it to Nintendo, and have the disc drive replaced.

Nintendo sometimes extends the warranties.  As long as you have modified your system in any way, you should give them a call.

Well if you don't have any of the games you get free with your gamecube, trade in your gamecube and buy a new one with one of the free games!!

Ah, memories....  I remember blowing in my damn NES carts for a good hour before I got something more than a flashing black and white screen.  Once I had that game working, you can be sure that I didn't use anything else for a long time either.

Sorry to hear about your GameCube man.  Mine has been through a lot but it's still working fine...

Yeah I remember the good old snes and nes days of blowing carts....  Didn't Nintendo say never to blow in them though?  Anyways sorry about your cube.  The worst thing my Cube has done is lock down in Metroid Prime... but i heard that there were some glitches in that game that cause loading problems.  Hopefully you'll get a cube soon.

My cousin used to blow so hard into his NES games that he would spit food in them. One time I found a piece of a jolly rancher stuck inside a cartridge, no lie.

People still blow on their cartridges?  In this day and age?  With such high tech devices like the "cotton swab" and fancy new cleaning solutions like "Windex" or "rubbing alcohol"?  Heh...

In any case, that sucks about your GCN.  Haven't heard about any defects or anything with the system, but then again, I don't keep up-to-date with much of anything these days.  Another Gamecube price drop would be cool, though.

BTW I know why to dont blow on the carts. Remember those Pokemon Mall Tours that you can get MEw in R/B/Y versions i was blowing on my cart to mak it work, the Nintendo Lady sid to get acarterage cleaning kit she was swabbing the metal things were the cartgets read and if you blow on it, it can corrode since when you blow on it microscopic water molecules come out and that makes it corrode or whatever reason they gave me.

No Nintendo only gives a year for hardware and 90 days for software.
Although some States have  a law against limited warenties so some people will get life time support.

even better, it's saliva not water.. metal don't like that stuff

Sorry to hear about the dead cube... that darn precision laser equipment isn't as reliable as a pin connection I guess. how do you plan to dispose of it? I suppose you can take it somewhere to be refurbished and resold, but I remeber someone wanting a dead cube for a snack bowl or something. I wouldn't mind having the controller ports to play with, but I'm to lazy to find a way to attach to my PC or anything (I could just get an extension cable for that project anyway). dangit, USB starter kits cost too much...
hey, I'm way off topic already.. woohoo!

What do you mean you can't get a new color? is there no selection where you live? (more thoughts on dead cube parts.. you could mix and match jet and indigo parts)
