Moonwatcher, I think it's just someone taking a quote out of context. I am right positive that Miyamoto has little to no involvemtn in the making of the game.
Epitaph, Metal Gear started on MSX, not the NES. NES got one port, and one original game which sucked. Neither game was as good as either on MSX.

Raiden was one of the MANY problems with MGS2. Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear 2 are among my favorite games of all time. MGS2 is one of my most hated. I will sum up why fans hate MGS2 so much. Metal Gear Solid - Hero is Solid Snake. The man is seriously freaking cool, and goes through the game killing and destroying everything in his path. He's the classic 80s hero, but he does it very well. The storyline in the game is like a James Bond anime. Very cool. Metal Gear Solid 2 - Hero is Raiden. The man is seriously freaking queer. He and his girlfriend have these long emotional conversations that make me want to throw up. Especially since Kojima thought it would be great if he had them calling eachother Jack and Rose. I tried to have patience with the little homosexual, but after a while of him and his girlfriend whining at eachother, I couldn't handle it anymore. The storyline of the game is largely identical to Metal Gear 2, and Metal Gear Solid (recycled storyline in every game, but this one was the worst), however, the ending was screwed beyond all recognition this time around. It was supposed to be deep and haunting or some crap like that, but really it was just stupid. Metal Gear Solid 2 was sold to fans as being a good sequel to Metal Gear Solid. Raiden was never shown in previews, and the demo of the game only included the first level, in which Solid Snake was the playable character. I maintain that the first level was seriously cool, and was everything that a Metal Gear game should be. However, the game went progressively downhill from that point on. By the end I was forcing myself to keep playing.
