Well, we'll probably see a much larger presence from Other M at the Press Conference now, maybe to cover for Zelda possibly not coming out this year?  Hopefully they'll see reason and use that time to add nunchuck support.  It's not unprecedented considering didn't Twilight Princess get a delay after its last E3 to tweak the Wii version's controls according to feedback from the show?

Yes it was. My guess is that Other M was delayed for development reasons not strategic. Which is a good thing IMO. Perhaps they will implement other control schemes.

Hmmmm...well, it could very well be delayed so that it can be the "talk of E3." It'll get tons of press coverage and hype RIGHT before release, which could lead to better-than-usual sales for a Metroid game.

The problem is that Prime Corruption also released shortly after its last E3, and it even got healthy presence at the Press Conference.  It still didn't sell to Nintendo's expectations.  They'll have to put a lot more effort into promoting Other M if they want to avoid a similar fate.

You mean over 1.5 million copies, which makes it the 4th best selling Metroid game of all time.  I'm pretty sure Nintendo will be quite happy to see Other M meets the same fate.  Not to mention the only expectations ever really said about the game was Reggie mentioned how he'd like the game to do better then Prime 2, which it did by a few hundred thousand.
