It would never get reversed because it was a clear sign of copyright infringement. Nintendo just usually do anything because most of the games are just simple flash games. Legally we all know Nintendo could shut them all down if they wanted too.

Bob, yes I would say they still would be providing a service. They are putting the game on a cartridge and letting people play it easily (although they would get shut down before they could sell a copy). Same here, all TCP does is provide the design (which isn't even of use to me since I don't have access to a color printer). This guy is not only adjusting it for use on a cartridge, but he is printing it on a sticker and doing all the hard work.

Sorry, I disagree.   But that's just my humble opinion.  I think the guy's a douche and that's that.  I'm not going to promote his work if it's just charging a mark-up on the work of other people. Maybe I'm the douche...

I'm pretty sure OoT2D was given a cease and desist. Or did that get reversed?
This is what I heard as well and it was what I was basing my statement on earlier.  I was looking forward to the game as it was going to be free, but they shut it down due to Nintendo telling them to shut down.

Nintendo never shut that guy down. This happened:

Now "Dampe" randomly appears, says bullshit then dissapears. This project will never be unless a different team actually takes it seriously.

I forgot all about the fake death thing.

PS- How fitting is it that Mop it up has a Applause score of 64?

Yup yup - the whole fake death thing.

Again, I'm not really aware of any public case of Nintendo sending a c/d over a homebrew/hack like this.

That's some pretty messed up stuff there. It sounds like he either lacked the skill to finish the project or just plain got bored of it, but didn't want to admit it.

On a server I ran, I got a C&D for a Mario PC clone game that we had available for download.  But it wasn't Nintendo who sent out the C&D, it was one of the *AA groups.

RIAA/MPAA?  Weird... did it use mainstream (copyrighted) music or something?

Let's not be pedantic.  It was the ESA or BSA or some such, but I don't recall which one.  I don't know if they actually have the authority to do that or not.

Well, a C/D from the RIAA/MPAA would be a totally different beast than one from the ESA or... ummm... the Boy Scouts of America?

There actually is a Business Software Alliance, but they focus on stuff like IT software. The ESA represents its members (and Nintendo is a member), so I am pretty sure it does have the authority to deal with legal matters like copyright violations.

Great news - mrbigreddog, shenske and I have been talking a bit and mrbigreddog is joining TheCoverProject with the goal of hashing out a complete set of the N64 labels.  The plan is to upload them to the site (for free download, of course) and for him to still offer his printing services if you want the high quality printed labels.

Win, win, win!

I'm glad that was worked out. Though I think I would rather make my own. But great to have the option out there.

UncleBob, you should badger them to make sure special ones are made for the gold holo Zelda carts.
