Attention Mop it up and other N64 fans
« on: April 15, 2010, 10:43:42 PM »
I know this isn't something you'd be super-excited about (I can't   imagine doing this to all your N64 games!), but I wanted to pass it   along - it looks pretty awesome.

Basically, one of the guys on   TheCoverProject.net has gone crazy and made miniature replica boxes for   some N64 games:

They do look super-neat.  They're still   playing with the idea, trying to see if there's any interest in the   project.

Just wanted to pass it along.

Seems like an interesting idea, I'll bet a collection stored with these would look nice. The original boxes don't make for good storage due to their size, as well as wanting to keep the valuable ones in good condition.

That'd cost a lot for all that cardboard paper and ink though, I wonder how much that would be...?

You could ask the same thing about any game box, games could fit into CD jewel cases (which is what Sega did with the Dreamcast).

Oh man, GAME BOY covers? I assume those are DS game cases. How...how does that work? Does the GB game just kinda flop around in the box?
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

the problem with jewel cases is they seem so fracture prone, idk why cus they get handled with care, i suppose you cant trust that type of plastic, and dvd case plastic is much more rubbery. There are the rubbery type of cases that are just disc sized.

There's a couple of different options avalible.  For a while, I was using Doom's smush 'em in method - but then my wife got me a Dremel tool for Christmas and I went through and cut all the cases like this:

And they're awesome. :)

Interesting.  How and why did he go about getting every game ever made for the N64?

Ask Mop it up, she has em all too.

This is way too expensive for my pocket.

Because the Nintendo 64 is the best system ever, with every game being the best.

And don't call me "Mop it up."

http://cgi.ebay.com/NINTENDO-64-GAME-SYSTEM-LOT-has-every-N64-GAME-MINT-/260620284551?cmd=ViewItem&hash=item3cae2df287=&pt=Video_Games=

Something to watch..
It says "over 300" even though there are 296 releases. Unless there's some dupes I didn't see (there were 2 OoTs), the guy must not have bothered to count.

Does that include the N64 Pac-Man that you never played?

Who are you going to believe, someone who put together an article in too much haste to fact-check, or someone who owns every game?

I don't have to play it to know it is the best arcade game ever.

Look, I love Pac-Man, but it's not the best arcade game ever.  I'd put it in the top ten, easily, but Ms. Pac Man is far better than Pac-Man.  Also, Donkey Kong. :p

Both of which are on the N64 in some form, so they are both also the best arcade game ever.

Okay, Wiki says:
Quote
Of the console's 387 official releases, 84 were exclusive to Japan, 42 to North America, and 4 to Europe.

Wait, I fail math... You and Wikipedia and GameSniped all disagree on the number of US games... ?

You must be missing some then since there were indeed 387 N64 games.

That's what everyone says, but clearly, once someone plays every N64 game, they realize they are all the best-something-ever.

Where does Wikipedia say the number of NA releases? The portion you quoted says 42 games were exclusive to NA.
