Alpha Bounce
« on: April 14, 2010, 03:27:13 PM »
Just feeling the need to point it out, I think many people dismissed the game out of hand as yet another shovelware game. It's like Break-Out with a galaxy map to explore (each square on the grid is a level), items to discover and outfit your paddles with and planets to explore (by beating the levels on top of them, usually with some distinguishing features specific to that planet). It's fun, addictive, huge and only 500 points.

How are the controls?  Does it use the touch screen or D-pad?

I watched the trailer and it was so schizophrenic my head hurt afterward.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It uses the touch screen for movement with the dpad for using your weapons if you have any.

So I picked up AlphaBounce on KDR's recommendation.  It's fun!  It's also Infernal Monkey-approved so you know it's good!

Both Player One Podcast and IGN NVC had mentions of Alpha Bounce this week, Daemon Hatfield of all people loved the game.

This game is quite awesome. I'd need to spend a lot more time with it before I consider reviewing it, but it's tons of fun. It will be mentioned on Newscast, and there will be much love thrown its way.

I just got this game about a week or so ago and as a result, my Pokemon SoulSilver hasn't seen the light of day since.  The game is really addicting and the scope is just HUGE.  I was a little ticked off with the fact that I could'nt use the d-pad for movement, as its my prefered choice for control, but its not the end of the world.  The insanity that sometime's ensues in some of the stages is what I really love about the game.  The rpg aspect to the game is a sweet touch too.

This game is consuming my life.  It's so addicting it's unbelievable.

Everyone knows that Arkanoid is fun, but I'm having some difficulty determining what it is exactly about this game that transforms it from a fun time waster to video game crack.  It might be the loot.  Everywhere you go on the grid-based map you can see a tile just out of reach that holds a shiny new ball or a new weapon or a robot that you have no idea what it does but you know you need one.

My DSi has quickly turned into the Alpha Bounce console.  It's a bit sad that I can't be bothered to turn on my Wii because all I want to do is play an Arkanoid clone.

Man, I finally beat medium difficulty. Hard is off to a rocky start, very hard indeed. I'll need to get some basic gear together to have a better chance, my first goal for now is getting a second ball. The planet right next to my starting point is Quasmik which is a bit too much for the starting gear.
