Green Day: Rock Band Track List Revealed
« on: April 14, 2010, 04:21:51 PM »
On June 8, prepare for an entire game disc worth of Green Day tracks.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=22899

Green Day, Harmonix, MTV Games and Reprise/Warner Bros. are bringing Green Day: Rock Band to Wii. The game is a standalone disc for the Rock Band series, and will feature specialized videos for each song. The track list includes the albums Dookie and American Idiot, and by combining the disc with already available DLC, a third complete album, 21st Century Breakdown can be played in its entirety.

Three part harmonies, as introduced in The Beatles: Rock Band, are supported for all tracks, including the Green Day DLC that can be imported from the Rock Band library. All Rock Band instruments and most instruments from Guitar Hero and third parties are supported.

The 47 on-disc tracks are split between three venues. The game also features unlockable footage and photos of the band.

Pricing for the Wii version is set at US MSRP $49.99; €39.99 / £29.99, with a release on June 8.

While I love the song, I am worried about how well "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" will work. The song is basically just Billie Joe Armstrong playing a guitar and singing. There are no drums or bass, so the song really just works for two people.

There are already songs like that available as DLC for Rock Band. Not quite totally without one of the instruments, but almost.

Seeing this list just emphasizes to me that Green Day is far too minor of a band to have a whole game dedicated to them.  Obviously Green Day is a major band but to me, prior to American Idiot they were a band with a huge breakthrough album and a smattering of decent hits since.  Since American Idiot they're a band with two huge albums and a smattering of decent hits.  I see bands somewhat in terms of how many discs a good comp of their's would be.  Green Day is a one discer.  It's a great one disc - but that's it.

And here they're folowing up The Beatles!  The biggest act of all time!  A band where damn near EVERY song is considered essential.  In terms of comps I have the Red and Blue albums.  That's 4 LPs worth of material and there are obvious omissions.  And at the same time nothing on those albums should have been left off.  The Beatles: Rock Band is, in my mind, MISSING important Beatles songs.  That's how big that band is.  This is missing nothing.  If anything it has some outright filler.

These individual artist focused music games should be saved for the absolute biggest of the big.  It should be for bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or The Rolling Stones.

I would buy Rolling Stones Rock Band even if it required me to buy a whole new set of instruments. As for Green Day Rock Band, I recently bought Guitar Hero Aerosmith because I found it for $3; I'm not sure I'd buy this at that price.

Or one :P I often do guitar and vocals because it adds a little more challenge to what can become stale gameplay.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I can't believe they're charging full price for this - yes, there are 47 songs, but most of Green Day's songs are under 3 minutes. They should have just put *every* Green Day song on there (they easily could), and then I would still not buy it.
I think it says on the box, 'No Hispanics' " - Jeff Green of EA

I would bet they'd have made more money if they just released all the songs as DLC. I know I'd probably buy at least three or four of those songs as DLC, but there's absolutely no way I'll pay $50 or anywhere close to it for the disc, and I know I'm not alone in that.
