FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD, I SAID 'BACON AND EGGS'
how much MORE help do 3rd parties need from Nintendo?
- Nintendo shows robust motion software covering first-party sports, adventure, and action franchises, etc.; "good" examples...
- Nintendo intentionally designed Wii with low specs to help keep dev costs from getting out-of-hand...
- Nintendo keeps their games full price, allowing 3rd parties debut some games at an attractive $40 or less...
- Nintendo has frequent first-party droughts, providing generous breathing room for 3rd party releases (relieving 3rd parties of "competition" with Nintendo titles)...
- Nintendo continues to focus on their unique first-party properties (sequels, ports, rehash and other strictly Nintendo-ish games), leaving the remaining library/genre spectrum open for 3rd parties to fill-in...
NOW, Nintendo will take some responsibility in selling games that 3rd parties couldn't the first time around?
**** SALT
3rd party: "Thanks for supporting us, Nintendo! What do our games have to do to get this special recognition?"
Nintendo: "First, your full-priced games have to FLOP! You'll be so proud when you can finally add these new special stickers!"
