Megaman Zero Collection for DS
« on: January 15, 2010, 01:11:12 PM »
Forgive me if this has been posted, I don't browse the DS forums much. Just read the news, Japans getting a collection of the GBA MegaMan Zero games.

Will update post with new info in a bit!

I actually saw this last night but it was 2am or so. I finished up my Mafia game then check on some news and I saw this but I was PMing a few things to people that I remember them asking about.

Anyway I haven't played any of the Megaman Zero titles and from my understanding they are really hard. Megaman 4 is probably the less hardest of the four.

Well glad you were busy because this is the first peice of news I've ever gotten to post. Go me!

I've only ever played MMZ3 which had its moments, but wasn't terribly hard. I never was able to find the other games in the series due to getting a DS so late (didn't get a GBA until AFTER ds, and that was for collections sake).

This news has me excited, because I really want to play the series before moving on to the mmzx or xz games.. lol

Well it is a nice feeling posting news isn't it.

As far as Megaman DS games. I haven't played any. The MegamanZX games are a take of the classic series with a few new ideas. There was lots of different ways that MegaManZX can play because of their different weapons.I will have to find my NP that has the game covered to recall some things.

I refuse to believe it until I see it on store shelves.  The Mega Man GBA anniversary collection for GBA already broke my heart once.  :(

Yes, please!  I missed out on the whole MMZ run.  A collection on DS getting a U.S. release would be fantastic.

Seem like it being released in Japan on April 22 so I doubt that it will turn into vaporware. I going to get myself a copy because my original MMZ cart was stolen  :'(

Hopeful this will lead to a MMZ5 game or at lease they fix MMZ4 ending.

I keep hearing how the Zero series is like the hardest MM series ever. As somebody who's beaten all the MM and MMX games, how do the Zero games stack up?
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Spikes a plenty, bosses with tons of health and none of that "it's super effective" stuff, no health containers or upgrades outside of those single use cyber elves as far as I can tell and combat focused on melee.

Much harder to the point of being completely ridicules at time which KDR summed up perfectly.

It's one of the reason why I hate the Zero series.  It's the perfect example of how to kill a franchise by only focusing on the most hardcore of fans and ignoring everyone else.  There's a reason why the first MMZ game was the best selling in the series by far and MMZ 2 saw an over 50% drop in it's sales over the first one.

Sorry Inafune, but when some of the early bosses for christ sake have 3 f*cking life bars and can kill you in only 3 hits, that's not fun.  Just because some Megaman fans love to play the older games only using the arm cannon and no special weapons doesn't mean the rest of us do.

The notorious difficulty is the reason I never bought into this series. Masochism is not my idea of fun.

I only played and beat MMZ3 and at first I thought "HOLYFUCKINGCOWSHIT HE SHOULD BE DEAD WHAT'S THIS EXTRA LIFE BAR ****!" But, like all MM games once you know the patterns its a cake walk, only in MMZ you get to get in close to enemies and rip their weapons right off their bodies ;)

I beat the game though, and it didn't feel all that hard.. I may have not gotten the best rankings in each level but I still beat it. I also finished the games with very little knowledge of how the elf system worked, so aside from maybe the doublejump.. I don't think I got many upgrades. Just goes to show its not THAT hard....

Hell if anything the hardest part was trying to play it on the GBA SP :P (I always tried to play any gba games on a gba before switching over to the DS)

Well that might explain it.  I've heard that MMZ 3 and 4 are easier then 1 and 2.  I've only played the first two and their cheapness killed any further interest I had in the series.  Sounds more like MMZ3 and 4 might actually be playable, something MMZ1 and 2 certainly weren't.

More of a reason to be glad theres a chance this collection coming over here, I can put my "skills" to the test. Looks like win/win for everyone here.

I was under the impression that the 3rd one was the hardest not 2. Anyway I will probaby grab this collection as the GBA games are probably hard to find nowadays.

Just scaling them up because the sword does a lot of damage compared to the regular Megaman pea shooter.

I was under the same impression but when someone with a nintendo avatar on a nintendo fansite corrects me, i'm prone to believe it. I'll be picking up the collection too, first day if possible. I was at a GS the other day just to look thru their GBA games and on the very bottom of their case (which basically made the bottom shelf the floor..) there was only ONE MMZ game, and although it put the price sticker on the number (MegaMan Z$9.99), I knew it was 3 because i recognized the label (unless they all have the same color..).
