They had a game on the NES but would people care if it was oldschool GlobeTrotters or the Current Trotters?

I have seen the GlobeTrotters in person back in 2002. It was fun to watch.

Which makes them a perfect fit for this game.
Have them do unorthodox things during the game like rollovers instead of cross overs and crazy trick passes while using a special red white and blue ball.

Why not go all out with them and just have them be the ultimate unlockable team after you beat everything and they can do things that other teams can't do. like ~~teleport~~ invisible passes and bouncing balls off your face. 3pt dunks (take off from the 3pt line) and whatever other crazy things you can think of that don't actually break the game.

It's odd that they are voting for who to be included based on teams. It should be players at this point and work out what teams they play for later. With the trade deadline looming and the biggest free agent summer in the history of the league coming up, the big name players probably won't be on the same team by the time the game comes out.

Fair point on the trade deadline issue. I know it's a big question mark with my Jazz if Boozer (or some of our other big name players like Kirilenko) will still be with us after February. At the moment, though, I'll take what they're doing now over having everyone basically voting in the entire rosters for the Magic, Celtics, and Lakers (probably the most popular rosters in the NBA, followed by the Suns; Nuggets; and Rockets).

Good point. We already know fan voting doesn't work for the all star game. They should just trash this idea and hire experts to set the line-ups at the last possible moment.

Ugh...don't remind me. Probably largely because of China, we're (as of last official count) getting Tracy McGrady in the All-Star game this year, a guy who's barely played this year (if he's played at all). We're also getting Allen Iverson because...he's Allen Iverson, despite him having an abysmal year.

Looks like NBA Jam is scheduled for release Q3 FY 2011 (Oct. - Dec. 2010) according to EA FY 2011 release list.

I certainly couldn't let this week go by without letting you folks know that there's a new player voting poll on the NBA Jam site for the Mavericks, the Jazz, and the Raptors. The correct choices for the Jazz are Deron Williams, Carlos Boozer/Paul Millsap (depending whether you think Boozer will still be with the Jazz by the time this game comes out), and Andrei Kirilenko. To choose otherwise would make you a foolish fool who foolishly votes for foolishly foolish fools playing on foolish teams. Ignorance is to be whipped.

I've never been a fan of the Jazz. I could site specific occasions when they've beaten teams I've liked, but I think it all boils down specifically to my dislike of Karl Malone, as a player not, you know, as a person. I'm sure he's a gentleman when he's not playing dirty. Why don't you throw a couple more elbows, Karl? I know he's long retired, but now, it's just a lifelong vendetta against the Jazz.

If it makes you feel better, my favorite NBA player has always been John Stockton and he was always the one I watched Jazz games for (similarly, Deron Williams is the guy I watch this Jazz team for). It's been too long since I've seen Malone play to tell you if I thought his play was dirty, but from my recollections I just remember a lot of hard physical play from a guy who could probably bench press a truck. Frankly, in this wussified league I wish we'd see more physical play like the older days. No intentional harming of players, of course, but none of this business about stopping a guy on a fast break by sticking your hand out and slapping him on the wrist. If you're going to foul, make it one that makes the other guy think twice about going up against you in the paint.

John Stockton was a great player who was sullied by his association with Karl Malone. Unfortunately, can't have Stockton without Malone. It's like when you see a really hot girl and you want to talk to her then her stupid, annoying friend walks up beside her and you need one of your friends to take the fall and wingman the annoying one out of the way, except there was no way to wingman Karl Malone away because he was too busy throwing elbows and taking cheapshots.

In fact, I hate Karl Malone so much that I nicknamed the big bald majini in RE5 Karl Malone just so I could live out my life long dream of tossing grenade at Karl Malone.

Anyway, it would be nice if they had a legends roster in NBA Jam, just as long as there was no Karl Malone. Okay, I'll stop.
