Gotta love the award for most anticipated game!  WTF.

Can't say you couldn't see that one coming, though.  Despite how incredibly mediocre all the God of War games have been thus far (yes, I did just say that), they're big sellers and God of War 3 has become the latest "reason you must buy a PS3!" title.  I was a little disappointed that Bioshock 2 didn't get it, though, because that game is looking really good.

And hey, at least we got one somewhat unexpected unveil for the hopefully-awesome Batman: Arkham Asylum sequel.  That was pretty much the only trailer worth watching at the show, though, as Forgotten Sands is looking like a movie licensed game.

I'm surprised so many people on these forums watched the show.  I knew it was on but knew that all the previous year's awards sucked so why would this be different?

The sheer concept of it is such that it can't not be terrible.  Gaming culture is underground.  Yeah, playing videogames is mainstream with the Wii and all but gaming culture is not.  The culture they're trying to present on this show is not mainstream so the second you put that on TV, you're doing it wrong.  You can't present the culture if you're not part of it and no TV executive that comes up with their OWN awards show is going to be part of the culture.  The only way this could work is if the videogame industry itself conducted their own awards and a TV network merely broadcasted it for them.

Yeah, but it would probably be the best you could do.  The movie, music and television industries all have their own awards and those have a smidge more credibility than say the MTV Movie Awards.  Though I would prefer videogame awards to mimic the Oscars more than the Grammy's.

And btw what's with the Monkeys for the awards?  They looked about as legitimate an award as the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.  No, scratch that...they look less legitimate than the Kids' Choice Awards.

Is Spike owned by Viacom as well? That might explain it.
