That's a good point, it could just be that that's how the slices are done, but the fact that you don't "see" the sword is what surprises me, really.

Reginleiv is third person and those characters are definitely holding visible weapons, I think the slash effect will show in addition to the swing animation.

I wonder if the rail comparison is just comparing it to the DQ Swords series, there's multiplayer after all and it wouldn't make a ton of sense to have several people run along the same rail independently.


EDIT: The trailer clearly shows dodging so it can't be entirely on rails, at most S&P style.

Wish they'd articulate that better.  I'd say PN03 is like a rail shooter, but it would be a pain to explain it.

Considering Famitsu made that comparison the "rail slashers" they're thinking of are probably the DQ Swords games and they may just be comparing the attack mechanism (slashing across the screen to kill enemies)

There are many mysteries to this product.

I guess the reason Nintendo waits so long to show anything about their games is they save so much money by not publicizing it, even if the games flop.

New trailer. Probably the longest yet but nothing really new to see. Apparently you draw a line for your slash before your character executes it so where does the motion plus support come in?

There's a radar like in EDF so the on-rails talk is most likely 1up misunderstanding Famitsu (most likely the comparison was to the DQ Swords series which had a similar mode of attack and was on rails).
