The title is sold out, for the moment.

According to Media Create, Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Light Warriors has sold over 150,000 copies in Japan, making it one of the best-selling titles last week. The initial shipment of the title is completely sold out, forcing the game's producer Tomoya Asano to apologize about the game's availability on his personal blog. The producer, however, promises that more units will arrive in late November.

Final Fantasy Gaiden: The Light Warriors is a traditional, turn-based RPG. Parties are made up of four characters and the title features many classic Final Fantasy elements such as jobs, magic attacks, and customizable equipment.

Maybe it shows that people just like the way RPGs were back in the NES era?

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Which explains why they keep buying Dragon Quest games.

Ah, nice to see someone take over my usual reins as the guy who mocks Dragon Quest for being antiquated.  ;)

Seriously, it's a Final Fantasy game featuring antiquated design decisions.  How couldn't the Japanese just adore it?

The fact it isn't bogged down with melodramatic love triangles helps.

I've seen a snippet or two of this game, and it really makes me wonder how much it could've made to cost.  From what I've seen it's a very simple game, though to be honest, like I just said, I haven't seen all that much.

If they sold out of every published copy, though, it's got to be a surprising success.  Bigger than Final Fantasy XIII? :p

They only shipped a few hundred k, not as much as they would have for a main number FF. At very least it seems to be exceeding expectations.

It might be cheap, NES era games were dirt cheap compared to the modern monstrosities and even with some PS1 era graphics added they won't break the bank.

Another thing is that the artwork looks very cute, which should help sell a few copies -- I was actually thinking of picking it up (before I saw this story), simply because I saw an advertising poster for it, and thought "ooooh, cute..."

Hmm, maybe there are now no copies left for me to pick up tho... :(
