Finding Gamecube Games!
« on: April 20, 2003, 05:16:24 PM »
I've had terrible luck finding most gamecube games that I want.  I currently have 10 gamecube games, but there are some that I wanted as soon as I got my 'cube but couldn't find.  I have yet to play the amazing Eternal Darkness that I hear so much about and Timesplitters 2.  These 2 games are ones that I am beggin to find, but to no avail.

So, does anyone know a good place that has actually carries these titles?  I've heard that they are like $20 each so if I do actually find them I''ll end of paying $50 anyway...I checked: Wal-Mart(I knew that wouldn't have them), Babbages, and I went to the Circuit City website and they didn't have TS2, but they had ED for $50.  I checked the Sams Club website and they didn't even have GC stuff at all, just XBox and PS2.

Does anyone know a website that has these games for like $20 without having a credit card?  I order games from Wal-Mart with my shopping card so I want a site like that.  Or if you know a store with these games please reply.

i have had a hard time finding nhl 2k3. the best advice i can give is try buying it used on amazon or at local video game stores. lots of the places have sold out of those old games and because there isnt as high of a demand for cube games, they dont restock them.

The only places that I know that have Eternal Darkness for $20 is Best Buy and Sam Goody.

I just got Eternal Darkness used at Blockbuster for $10.

I am having a miserable time finding Skies of Arcadia....  but of course you all know that.  As for Eternal Darkness, the game is a cult hit, but a retail bomb.  It's entirely possible that your area is sold out and just not getting any more.  Try buying the game online somewhere, as it's probably not going to be restocked.

I find it completely dispicable that most publishers think so low of Nintendo fans that they don't even give us the opportunity to buy the game.    I mean, what's the point of making the game if they aren't willing to sell it?

yeah grey ninja, no kidding. its totaly B.S.  you might wanna try an EB if you have one close by. they usually have a good selection of cube games, new and used. u can probably find ED used for even less than 20 bucks. i dunno where else u might try.. maybe search on ebay...

edit: i found ED at Gamestop.com for 14.99 plus 4.49 S+H. but u probably need a credit card, check it out though. i'd give u a direct link but its against rules. hope that helps a bit

If I can't find a ame locally, I go to the web. Web sites almost always have stuff in stock. Bad part is having to pay for shipping, but if your lucky may get out of paying taxes depending on where you live.

I bought ETERNAL DARKNESS for $19.99 and TIME SPLITTERS 2 for $29.99, both brand new at Game Stop a few months ago.

Regarding Sam's Club - you are not going to find anything on their website. The only way to get a good deal is to actually go to the Sam's Club in your area and see what they have to offer in person. Their stock really changes week-to-week, so it's kind of hard to tell what you might find on any given day. Sometimes they only have a handful of games (3 or 4), while other times they stocked with a wide selection of 20 or so different titles.

------

Also, try searching through E-bay. I've bought a few games through their auctions and I have not been disappointed yet

I've pretty much given up on finding any games I want in stores around Baltimore.  They all carry a lot of crap games and the games that are actually bought are nowhere to be seen.  No wonder sales are low.

Anyway, online really is the way to go, so if you don't have a credit card, talk to your parents to see if you can use theirs and pay them back for the game.

As far as finding something locally, CALL first.  No sense going to the store only to find everything you want is gone.  Call first, and if they have the game, ask them to hold it for you as you'll be in later that day to buy it.  Most will happily do it.  Smaller outfits can also put in orders for games, although there's no guarantee on cheap prices then, as they'll usually charge MSRP.

If you don't have a credit card and need a game online, simply go to Amazon.  They accept checks.  You just need to mail it off to them after you place an order and include your email address in the envelope/on the check.  They have a deal with Toys 'r' Us, and they have a VERY complete stock of game titles (including rare ones like Tactics Ogre for GBA).  It takes a little longer paying via check, but it definitely works!

I wonder what it would take to get the retailers to stock GameCube again.  It might take something incredibly mainstream, such as Final Fantasy or Mario Kart.... but I have faith that one day Nintendo will be dictating terms of surrender once mor.e

Oh, sorry.  Then it will probably take demand from several major titles, my guess.  RE4, FF:CC, MP2, and all other major titles on the GCN yet to come out will help to bring up demand.

How can there be demand when they don't stock the games?

They get 8 reserved copies in, 1 store copy, and 1 for sale.  The 1 for sale sells the first day, and they don't reorder it for weeks.  Yeah.  That's good business.

In the mean time, we get rows of Hamtaro and Disney that no one buys.

I'm sure that the Final Fantasy people will flock in great numbers to the retailers demanding Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicle when it comes out.  If there's one thing I have learned, it's never to overestimate a Squaresoft Fanboy.    (Although in this case, I will probably be joining them, and I really can't say that I will be too displeased.  )

LoL same here Grey,  I'll wait outside the store for Final Fantasy Tactics and the Cube game.  If they don't have it... well lets just say they better have it.
