Unofficial Wi-Fi Night - Mario Kart Wii Autumn Tour
« on: October 04, 2009, 03:19:20 PM »
8/10 Update:

I will open a room at 8:45PM Eastern and will start at 9:00 or 9:05. I won't be watching the room however, as I'll be at my computer checking to make sure everyone sees that it is open. Once the races start, I will not be at my computer because it is in a different room, so I can't check anything on the Internet. You can still join if you are late, I'll show a track reminder before we start each GP so you'll know which one we are on. I hope to see you all there!

Sign-up list:

1. Mop_it_up "Bummers" - 1118-1159-8102 <--The host! This is the only friend code you need to add.
2. Maxi "Dan" - 1891-1720-1306

Original post:

Hi all!
I'm hosting a friendly get-together in Mario Kart Wii to try out some hopefully fun ideas for GPs that I've had. Anyone who is interested is welcome to sign up and join the fun.

Please vote for the day on which you'd prefer to play. You can select as many days as you are available. Please post in this thread the times you'll be available on the days you selected, so that we can agree upon a time.

Now, first, I must list the rules. I don't expect any such problems from any of you of course, but I must cover this anyway due to legal reasons.

-No hacking
-No exploitation of glitches such as those found on Grumble Volcano, Mushroom Gorge, etc.
-No playing like a big meanieface. This means no driving backwards, camping on an item box, specifically targeting a certain player, or other such behavior.
-No excessive complaining about item "rape". It happens to all of us.

And now, here are the five GPs we will play! Please write down the information for each one so that you do not forget it. Before each GP I will list the track order as a reminder.

GP 1: Taking The Title Literally
In this GP, it is all about the one and only Mario! Bowser wouldn't stand a chance against this mob!
Character: Mario
Vehicle: Standard Kart
Courses:
Mario Circuit
GCN Mario Circuit
N64 Mario Raceway
SNES Mario Circuit

GP 2: Dino Duo
Yoshi and Birdo decide to take a romantic bike ride around the locales of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Characters: Yoshi, Birdo
Vehicles: Bon Bon/Sugarscoot, Zyp Zyp.
Courses
DS Yoshi Fails
DS Peach Gardens
DS Delfino Square
Moonview Highway

GP 3: Low-Tier Cup
In this GP, the Mario cast find that all of the fast vehicles have broken down because they drove them too much! But that won't stop them from holding the GP! Only low-tier vehicles are allowed in this cup, which basically means any vehicle with a speed rating of less than 45.
Characters: Any
Vehicles: Booster Seat/Baby Booster, Cheep Charger, Standard Bike S, Bit Bike/Nano Bike, Classic Dragster, Royal Racer, Bon Bon/Sugarscoot, Offroader, Wario Bike, Phantom, Standard Kart S, Standard Bike M, Zyp Zyp
Courses:
Toad's Factory
Koopa Cape
Maple Treeway
Dry Dry Ruins

GP 4: Girl Power!
The women of the Mushroom Kingdom want to show the world that they're more than just a pretty face!
Characters: Peach, Daisy, Baby Peach, Baby Daisy, Toadette, Birdo, Rosalina.
Vehicles: Standard Kart S, M, L, Standard Bike S, M, L.
Courses:
Daisy Circuit
GCN Waluigi Stadium
Grumble Volcano
Rainbow Road

GP 5: The Veto Cup
Everyone has a say in how this GP is formed! Each participant will choose one each of character, vehicle, and track that will be excluded from this GP, meaning that nobody is allowed to select that choice. And "Random" counts as a track which can be vetoed. Use this thread to make your selections, and be sure to get them in before the day of the meet up.

Here's what's been vetoed:
Characters: Funky Kong, Donkey Kong, King Boo, Rosalina, Birdo, Daisy, Baby Daisy
Vehicles: Bullet Bike, Mach Bike, Bowser Bike, Standard Bike Large, Magikruser, Dolphin Dasher, Flame Flyer
Track: Luigi Circuit, Mario Circuit, Rainbow Road, DS Yoshi Fails, N64 Sherbet Land, GCN Waluigi Staduim, N64 DK's Jungle Parkway, GCN DK Mountain

If you have any questions don't be afraid to ask them in this thread!

Count me in if it's either Thursday evening or Saturday morning/early afternoon.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

What time is this happening Mop_it_up?

I'm sure everybody wants to know.
Crashman goes by Joie Mop_it_up.
Maxi is dead. I killed him and took his posts and changed genders.

Currently when votes from everyone are tallied,  both Thursday and Saturday are tied. Although I'm still hoping for 4 more people to come and join and vote, in case there's a tie then we'll settle that by determining what time you all can play.

On Thursday, it would have to be after 7PM Eastern, but I'd prefer to start at 9PM Eastern. For other timezones that's:
8PM Central
7PM Mountain
6PM Pacific
10:30AM for Dasmos (Friday)

On Saturday, several people have asked for afternoon/early evening. How about 3PM Eastern? How many of you can make that? That's:
2PM Central
1PM Mountain
12PM Pacific
4:30 Dasmos time (Sunday)

Is either one all right? What would work for you guys? Fitting in Dasmos might be difficult, but we can do it!

On the 8th the cable people are showing up to fix some problems and install things from 1-4 pm so. Hopefully they get that done before 6 pm. Very likely.

Both of those should work. Although I am not sure when I am going to wake up on Saturday.

Unless something suddenly crops up(like my overtime hours being restored), the hour won't be an issue for me. I'm pretty open around that time of day on both Thursday & Saturday.

That Saturday time will not work for me.  Earlier would be better.

The Thursday time is fine.

Alright, it's looking like Thursday will be the day.

Also, don't forget to vote for the character, vehicle, and track that you want excluded from the fifth GP! If you don't choose anything then it won't be an interesting GP!

Here's what has been vetoed so far:
Characters: Funky Kong, Daisy, Baby Daisy
Vehicles: Bullet Bike, Mach Bike, Magikruser
Track: Rainbow Road, DS Yoshi Fails, N64 Sherbet Land

Yeah the Saturday one might be a little hard for me to get behind, especially seeing as I have work at 9.

Also who the hell voted out Rainbow Road? What a knob.

Also my character I vote for is Birdo (oh no he di'nt!), track is Mario Circuit (useless fucking track) and kart/bike Dolphin Dasher.

Was this there originally or did you add it yesterday?  I ain't doing any of that.  I race random every time.

Yes, the entirety of the GP listing was there when I created this topic. I'm guessing you didn't read the opening post?
Why don't you want to follow the theme? I'm tired of playing where anything goes which is why I created these themed GPs, I think they would make things more interesting and fun.
I can live with you selecting Random if you simply must, but will you at least use the proper characters and vehicles? Because if you don't, it would be unfair.

Did everyone else read the opening post, and will you all follow the themes?

Ha ha, yeah, a lot of people ask me about that. "Bummers" is a nickname that my older brother gave to me back in the day when we were playing Mario Party 3. Whenever something bad happened to me I would say "bummer" instead of swearing or something, so one day he decided "I'm going to start calling you Bummers". Seemed perfect for Mario Kart, wouldn't you say?

Also my character I vote for is Birdo (oh no he di'nt!),
It's alright, I kind of knew somebody would do that, so it might as well be you.

Alright, wonderful! If all goes well then we'll have 11 people tonight, just one under capacity.

Are you sure you don't want to veto one character and vehicle as well for GP 5?

Is there going to be a voice chat between players via Skype or something? If not, it's all right. I'll record the event with my laptop camera if possible.

I can't think of any characters/vehicles I'd want to veto. Only the three characters listed are the only ones who are a bit irritating.

I can't participate in any kind of chat since my computer is in another room, but maybe you could organize something with the other players.
