Talk about a whole new type of videogame feature! I was under the impression that DATAROCK was a development house.

We were contacted by EA/Artwerk about doing a feature, and I figured what the hell?

I'd like to get more musicians talking about their video game interests, and we'll likely have more interviews like these in the future.

Just read about their videogame contributions. Makes sense for a videogame loving band to contribute songs to a game.

Datarock are awesome. I just bought Red a couple of weeks ago and Datarock Datarock was probably my most played album in 2005. This interview was basically just a major plug, the only answer that had any depth was the one about their new album, which I already have.

Oh well, it was completely surprising and pretty cool to see them make a feature here.

Oh man, how unexpected, and unpresedentedly awesome!!  I love Datarock! A couple months ago on the music thread I recommeded these guys.

Great answers:

NWR: Do you guys have a Wii or DS? If so, how do you like them, and what do you play?

FS: We've got pretty much everything out there, but we of course prefer the awesome modern classic, the ATARI plug & play all-in-one joystick! Can't stop playing! Just can't let go of that joystick.

NWR: Do you guys play video games when out on tour?

FS: Yes, the awesome ATARI plug & play - Jakks Pacific's ten classic Atari games in one classic Atari black and red joystick, for your pleasure only!

Here's a couple tracks I'd say to check out if you liked the song in the feature:

I tried to get some in-depth info (asking about their synths, what games they play, etc.).  But I also had to bear in mind that not everybody knows who these guys are, so I had to put general questions in there too.  Asking about their new album sort of answers the "why are these guys intriguing right now" question.

I'm glad people enjoyed this!

I actually had no idea they already had another album out, so I'm real glad I ran into this.  Its only $6.99 on the amazon mp3 store.
