PAX 2009
« on: August 16, 2009, 12:29:09 PM »
Is anyone else planning to go to PAX this year?

This will be my first time going, but I can only go on Sunday because of work and school. At least I can see the end of the Omegathon.

I haven't made my mind up about going yet this year. There are a few things I want to see, but it was very crowded and difficult to play the game demos on the show floor last year.

Last year made me never want to go again. The new CTS figure they're debuting is pretty tempting, but I can just buy it at the PA store, so...yeah.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

Aren't they doing multiple shows this year to alleviate that?  Besides, what with the economy, I'd imagine fewer people will be attending this year.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I decided not to attend. More people than last year means hours and hours in line to play games. I will miss Red Steel 2 though :(

I was merely commenting that he's not really missing anything. Red Steel 2 holds absolutely no interest for me. I'm far more interested in the game's producer.

Oh Look, The dinosaur doctor has another disparaging things to say about a Wii FPS! Well look, Trollasaurus, your opinion of first person shooters carries about as much weight as my opinion on sports games.

I, uh...love Metroid Prime...

It's not the FPS angle I dislike about Red Steel 2. In fact, I wish it was a straight-up FPS: the Wii needs more good FPS games. Remember how I sort of kinda liked Quantum on the Wii? I'm all for that genre thriving on the little white box.

Did you see Shane Man God Bettenhausen next to Murmasa? Also, how was Dead Space? Plus, why no Red Steel 2?

I went to the Red Steel 2 theatre show, but alas it wasn't playable. Everything they showed me I have already seen. And who's Shane?  The guy next to muramasa was a skinny white guy.

Dead Space, hmmm. It was boring and slow, I had a player to play with and all we did was walk around rooms where the scenery never changed in the 10 minutes we played, all we did was fight the same two enemy types also. It also didn't feel all that satisfying killing the zombies. HOWEVER, and this is a major HOWEVER, we were in challenge mode, not story mode. In modes like that, you tend to not see the sites, things are simplified. I wish the host had actually let me choose hard mode + story.  What we got was a rip off compared to how awesome the game looks in the trailer.

More questions?

Cave Story awesome, had a real nice feel too it. Everyone should check it out.  Gonna give ya some nice nostalgia.

TMNT: Smash Up really needs to be sat down with so you can figure out the moves, to be awesome I didn't enjoy myself a whole lot, but I might like as i go farther. But come one, should I really expect to like it more than brawl?

Yeah you are right about Smash up and Brawl. Is there anything that sets it apart from Brawl aside from the obvious?

I heard that Cave Story is coming out in October.

Here's what I played:

Cave Story
Zelda Spirit Tracks
Scribblenauts
NFS: Nitro
Split Second
Tatsunoku Vs.
RB Beatles
NSMB Wii
TMNT: Smash Up
and other indie-style games that I can't remember the titles of in the PAX 10. I was the guy in the Sounders shirt with my dad in the neon-green Sounders shirt if anyone noticed.

Ubisoft told us (NWR) at E3 that Smash Up is compatible with the Classic Controller and 'Cube controller. Hope they didn't remove that. Any new characters in the demo, or was it just the turtles, April, Splinter, and Shredder again?

Maybe the demo was set up to use only the Wiimote. I mean that they probably didn't bring GC and Classic Controlers.
