Wii Light nonexistant
« on: August 09, 2009, 09:51:44 AM »
I storm went through my area, and knocked off the electric. When the power came back the wii will not power on, and now lights will function on or off. Any tips on how to make it work, or has my wii gotten a one way ticket to Washington

You blew out your ac adapter. I see them come in all the time. New ones cost $15-$20. Good luck!

For future use I think you should get a surge protector if you haven't already done so.

Yup - don't send it in if you don't have to. :(

And do this for all your A/V equipment & especially your PC.

At least it's a cheap fix, it could be a lot worse. Be thankful you won't lose your save data or anything like that.

Like others have suggested, getting a surge protector is a good idea. I learned that lesson a long time ago when a power surge fried the adapter for my NES.

Yeah, PS3 had a internal power supply and that died on my PS3. $150 repair  and the loss of all my save data here I come *sigh*.

well... it was plugged into surge protector, along with everything else in my house. Funny thing is another storm went through my area tonight, and well it works again. I wont complain but that is the strangest thing that has ever happened to one of my systems ever.

Weird. Your surge protectors are grounded right? third prong plugged into the wall?

Are you sure it was a surge protector and not just a power strip? A power strip looks almost identical but doesn't protect against surges.

Most power strips are also surge protectors, however they aren't very good and protect against a surge one time if at all.
