In what I'm sure will be great news for one particular NWR forum user, Star Trek Discovery has been picked up for a third season.
I've been a fan from the beginning, but the show really seems to be coming into its own in season 2, so it's nice to see it'll be sticking around, if the dozen other Star Trek series currently in the works didn't already signify that.
I am mildly surprised that it got renewed but reasons were not surprising. A lot of personal ego,"Creative" hijacking, sunk costs, Streaming Wars has been piled into this for it to die. Also more importantly they are desperate to have something, anything to put on CBS All Access to keep people subscribing beyond the month some sports ball is on. The ratings for both STD and AA subs have been terrible. Reportedly STD cost
$200 Million+ a season, good luck recovering that money.
It will never stop being a horrible show as it is just fundamentally broken. It has gotten to the point I can't even hate watch it. I could seriously script doctor it into a better show but not as a Star Trek show, nothing can do that.
Also R.I.P. Picard. Also LOL if any of it is going to be Trek but in name only.
Orville last week has had it's HOLY **** episode with me absolutely on the edge of my seat in anticipation of the second part. They have spent time from the very beginning building up to this. This isn't just Trek, it's bloody good TV.
