Linked to the german page because the UK one has no description at all (lists the release date as 30 Sep instead of 27 Aug though). What made me listen up is how the description says it's a cross between Bubble Bobble and Bionic Commando. Metacritic doesn't know it.

I saw a youtube video and it looked pretty ho-hum.  Seemed like you just tapped dots that they could latch on to, and climed higher and higher.  DS is held sideways...

I didn't see any bubbles.  The video was also the only relevant google search.

Yeah, seemed more like DK King of Swing with grappling hooks from the description I read.

I was disappointed, because bubble bobble bionic commando would be awesome.

ALSO, here's the vid I should have posted last time theres a giant spider I think...

Have you played DK King of Swing? Or maybe Jungle Climber (not entirely similar because you only need one peg to fling yourself, the description says you fling yourself with two pegs)?

No I never did.

But you used buttons in those right? And a spinning trajectory was really important right?  This looks like you just tap the peg and there's where they shoot off too.  I'm having a hard time imagining that getting really fun or anything.

Anything compared to King of Swing and Jungle Climber gets my interest, I loved those games.

Got the game a few days ago because GameStop had a 20% on everything sale, it really follows the rule: "Grappling hooks are awesome"

The game's a lot like King of Swing with the pegs you grab, then using two pegs to fling yourself around and whatnot but since you grab a peg just by tapping it instead of having to jump at it manually it's not so challenging in how to move. The tight time limits can be pretty hard though, I've ran out of time very often (only resets you to the last checkpoint though) because I was searching for the three golden coins on a level. There's also gems you collect that can be used to buy minigame and challenge levels and when you die you lose the gems you collected in the level so you can't just use the checkpoints all the time.

Only worry is that it might be too short, I'm already on the sixth world (it shows six worlds in the world select screen) so it could be over fairly soon. I didn't play many of the bonus levels (that you unlock with the gold coins) yet. There's single card multiplayer but I haven't tried it yet.

Doesn't look like it. Apparently it's not even out in Japan yet.

BTW, it's developed by Noise who are listed as a Nintendo second party on Wikipedia (and made the Custom Robo games so far) but it's published by Namco. The game came out at a budget price here (30€ instead of the regular 40€).

Man, a game that's like DK: Jungle Climber, one of my favorite DS games, made by the developers of Custom Robo Arena, another of my favorite DS games. I really hope this sees an American release or else I may be crazy enough to import it, if I can find a way to do so.
