It'll take a lot to convince me to buy this considering how insulted I felt after watching the trailer.

The amount of sex appeal thrown around there was insulting, I felt treated like some slavering idiot who'd buy anything with tits on the cover.

Realize these are the same people who bought DOA: X-treme Broken Volleyball just for the skimpy swimsuits and tits.

Give Peach DOA boob physics and a skimpy outfit in the NSMBW, and watch the sales triple (or be destroyed).

Fun Fact!

I have the original Dead or Alive Volleyball on the Xbox. I haven't touched it in years. I remember it being an actually pretty fun core game. The itty bitty teeny weenie yellow polka-dot bikinis were window dressing. Beautiful, beautiful window dressing.

Haven't played the sequel. They tell me it's crappy.

Also, and this is an important distinction: Bayonetta does not have what I would call "breasts." Samus does, Kasumi does, and Lara Croft does. Bayonetta is leggy, not chesty.

Well, most people are. But also, PG is pretty up front about the sexuality in Bayonetta, by way of making the character open about it. It's not like most games, where the girls are wearing next to nothing, but are totally super serial about everything (I'm looking at you, Soul Calibur).

Beach Spikers was a better volleyball game.

And Vanessa Z. Schneider stomps all over Bayonetta.

Kimono/traditional dress, a one-piece swimsuit, a cheerleader uniform, and a race queen outfit. Clearly, Platinum Games just let their otaku/nerd fetishes wash all over this game. I'm glad and excited that the developer was allowed to be this silly and ridiculous, however I can see how this is a bit too much for some.

This part of Platinum does not surprise me, Pale. They did make DMC 1 & 3, and that game was full of over-the-top cheese. So was MadWorld, but it took itself seriously (imo, the storyline was great). Bayonetta, sadly, will sell well because it has a nearly naked chick (who I admit looks sexy) and it supposedly fixes the flaws of DMC's battle engine.

Does it surprise anyone that I'm looking forward to Infinate Space more then Bayonetta?

I don't see why it selling well is a bad thing, regardless of WHY it sells well. Pretty much all reports of the game thus far are saying it's God's gift to third-person action games.

That's fine and dandy, but what about the rest of the game? My lack of interest in the DMC series is pretty much the fault of over the top cheese covered in annoying game play mechanics.

If Bayonetta fixes those flaws, good for it. I still have no interest in this game at all, even if you're fighting as a nearly naked big breasted chick that screams "otaku sex icon".

I miss the 90s era of video games. =(

She's not big-breasted.

But seriously, complaining about over-the-top cheese and then saying you miss the 90s video games?

There are just as many good games now.

Maybe this will help reduce some of your concerns: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/104/1042415p1.html

As Dark said, Bayonetta is by no means big-breasted.

Examples of big-breasted women in video games:

Rachel (Ninja Gaiden)
All the DoA girls except Hitomi (DoAX)
Mai Shiranui (King of Fighters)
Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Sophitia, Ivy (Soul Calibur)

I have been playing less games in my young adult years then I did in the 90s. Growing up has something to do with it, as do other hobbies, but lately games with big budgets have been all style and no substance.

And over the top cheese is okay... if you don't over-do. DMC over-did it, it's almost a parody of itself.

I will read the article later.

Anyone pick this up yet?  I played the demo and i was really impressed. And from what I saw in the demo, the "sex appeal" seems to be tongue in cheek, so I don't find it offensive at all.

Unfortunately, I don't have a 360 so I'll have to wait until the PS3 version drops way down. I never pay full price for a sub par version.
