The second game in Sega's Mario and Sonic series will hit stores October 13.

Sega recently confirmed an October 13 release for Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, which is heading to Wii and DS.

Based off of the upcoming Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, the upcoming game will feature numerous winter events including bobsleigh, ice hockey, and figure skating.

Featuring a cast of Mario and Sonic characters, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games will have both single and multiplayer competitive and cooperative modes, although the co-op mode will only be on Wii. That version will also use the Wii Balance Board for certain events.

I see a little Wifi logo on the box art. is that a mistake ?

it should have " wii motion plus support" logo on the box. It's disgusting that a game that would so easily be enhanced by that, does not use it 4 months after it's release.

What would it be enhanced with? Superior figure skating?
I could see complaints if this were the first game since that had fencing and stuff in it, but from what I played at E3 and what other sports appear to be there, MotionPlus support doesn't seem vital to those ones.

I enjoy MotionPlus, but like motion controls a few years ago, I don't want to see companies shoehorn compatibility into a game that might not really benefit from it.

I'll probably be getting this on its release week. I like the first game and it looks like this is an improvement in every way, plus I've always liked the Winter Olympics better anyway.

As far as Wii Motion Plus support: this is a multiplayer-focused game so it isn't a good idea to have it require an accessory that few people will have more than one of at the time.

Whether I purchase this game or not depends almost solely on whether it includes Curling.

I forgot to mention this, the Wi-Fi logo is likely because the game includes online leaderboards just like the first game has.

The DS game's boxart shows curling and I think both versions will have the same events.
