RE4 for Wii is well known to be a shoddy port, graphically speaking of course. Component? Composite? Irrelevant.

This is honestly the first time I have heard this. What's so bad about it? Are you saying it is a ported PS2 version and not the GC version?

Also, while on the matter, I've seen some pretty cheap composite cables in some places for Wii, but are they good quality? Is quality an issue? I want to get some. Also, will I have to switch them out to play certain games?

I need to look into getting first party Wii component cables. I got third party ones once, but they sucked ass and actually did make my Wii games look worse than they had with composite. My games suddenly had tons of jaggies and were blurry.

How much are the Nintendo brand ones? I'm almost afraid to ask.

The Nintendo-branded component cable is $30 but I'm sure you could find a deal if you looked around. It isn't something that you need to buy new either so that is a plus. I got mine from eBay for $15, they were actually new but without the box.

I don't have a progressive scan-compatible television so I can't say whether or not using 480p makes some games look worse. But switching between 480i and 480p is an option in the Wii menu so you can just turn it off if it does happen to make some games look worse. Even without it though, it definitely makes a difference, I was surprised I was able to see it. The picture is sharper and the colours are more bold with less bleeding.

It is definitely worth getting some.

We had a small discussion about this in one of the RE4 Wii threads.
What I still think is that the original resolution of RE4 GC is stretched for RE4 Wii, instead of having the Wii rendering a bigger viewing frame to accommodate for a higher pixel count.

ohhh nega-daisy...  I have a lot, but you know what game really brought me into the sandbox games, The Godfather on Wii.   That was fun.    almost, too much fun.. uh oh, do i need to see a shrink now?

Same thing happened for me during my time with the game, and even after finishing it. It happened all over again once i completed Scarface Wii, which i actually enjoyed more than Godfather. Then again i have a bias towards Scarface cuz of the soundtrack; there nothing like avoiding the police thru miami streets with happy go lucky 80s music on my custom playlists :)

The scary part is, since i already had a lot of that music on my ipod and listen to it in the car, if one of the songs from the games soundtrack came on, i'd wanna do all the little things i found fun in Scarface like speed in and out thru traffic, pull off jacknife turns and shout obsceneties to strangers lol

Every now and again i tell myself "man, i gotta get another tiger"

Oh, and to get back on topic these are the M rated games i have in my collection (off the top of my head, so i might be missing a few)

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles
Godfather
Scarface
Manhunt 2 (same reason as someone on the first page, to try and get rockstar support on Wii. Oh well)

I feel like theres one more but i can't think of it..

I loved Godfather. I think it is technically my first sandbox game unless you count No More Heroes.
I really want to grab Scarface. And I'm pouty that Godfather 2 is not getting a Wii version. What happened to EA supporting Wii "With 50% of their games"? It sold close to enough to break even and better than some versions did. Plust all the Wii specific controls were perfect.

That's just more evidence showing that whomever authorized these lame ports to be sold shouldn't be allowed to do so again.

I just hope they don't give a game aspects which cause it to get an M-rating just for the sake of it. An example of this is TimeSplitters Future Perfect. Unlike the first two games it has blood in it, which earned it an M-rating instead of a T-rating. The blood doesn't make the game any better, and all the M-rating does is limit its appeal.

M rated Wii games? Hmm only one I still have is Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. I used to have Call of Duty: WaW but ditched it.

Oh yeah & OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers. Forgot about that one since I got tired of it within a week.

Sin City MadWorld

Did Perfect Dark for the N64 sell enough copies to be considered a success in the same vein as Goldeneye? It was more violent then Goldeneye in terms of blood.

On TimeSplitters: FP. The M rating didn't really limit it's appeal. EA didn't market it worth ****, ruining the game's chances of success.

An ERSB rating means jack to me. If the game is well made and FUN, then it deserves my spending dollars.

Gamers who only buy M rated games to look "cool" are deluding themselves. Playing a video game of ANY kind still makes you a nerd (of sorts).

I have 6 M rated-games (out of 32 games) so that's about 19%:

- Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
- Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
- MadWorld
- The House of The Dead: Overkill
- OneChanbara: Bikini Zombie Slayers
- No More Heroes

(pronounced GC!)

Currently playing: My Japanese Coach (DS), Resident Evil 5 (PS3), The Conduit (WII), Street Fighter IV (PS3)

I guess it does because it is rated "M".

Did Perfect Dark for the N64 sell enough copies to be considered a success in the same vein as Goldeneye? It was more violent then Goldeneye in terms of blood.
Perfect Dark wasn't a sequel so it doesn't really apply to the example I gave.

On TimeSplitters: FP. The M rating didn't really limit it's appeal.
Yes it did. Since the first two games have a "T" rating then there could be a portion of its fans who were still too young to purchase "M" rated games.

Perfect Dark was a spiritual sequel. It used the same engine and had similar controls and features. It may not have been a canonical sequel, but it was a sequel gameplay wise.

It doesn't matter though because that isn't my point. Perfect Dark has a reason to be violent other than for the sake of just being violent: it was striving for realism. The TimeSplitters games are more fantastical and the first two worked just fine without blood, there was no reason to add it to Future Perfect other than to give it an "M" rating and make it seem "cool" or some such nonsense.

GTA was sold to kiddies below that age, so to me the arguement that TimeSpliters 3 lost out due to it's rating is kind of mute.

Maybe the fanbase no longer cared?
