Topic: Percentage of your Wii collection that's rated M.

With the recent talk of "mature" games on Wii I was just curious how many games owned by people here are rated "M".

I own just one, The House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return. I have five games rated "T" and three rated "E10", the rest are all "E".

"M" rated titles are rarely the type of games I like to play.

I own No More Heroes and maybe one or two other M-rated games at the moment. I owned Godfather and some others but sold them, so I'm not sure where to begin...

I own two but I bought them off a friend for $5 each. I actually just bought 12 games off my friend for $5 each.... I kinda ripped him off but he was just going to give them away when he sold his Wii! Doubled my collection for $60!

Those two are COD:WaW and RE4: Wii Edition. Then 9 "T" games and 3 "E10" and 16 "E" games.

Wow, that list is drastically different on my 360.

Teen:Trauma Center:Second Opinion,Red Steel,Castle of Shikigami 3,Tales of Symphonia:Dawn of the New World,Okami,SNK Arcade Classics Vol 1,Metroid Prime 3,The Conduit,SSBB,Zelda:TP.

M rated:Madworld,RE4:Wii Edition,Mortal Kombat Armageddon,No More Heroes,Resident Evil:Umbrella Chronicles.

RE4 Wii (haven't played yet, but I beat the GC version... I'll get around to it eventually)
HoTD: O (This one was worth the price of admission on the great "B" movie grindhouse story alone)
MadWorld (didn't get into it... seemed very arcadey though, so I'm sure I'll pick it up again)
No More Heroes (about 1/4 the way into the game, been meaning to get back to this, but got busy)
RE: UC (I'm at about 85% done, but I just lost interest... moves too slow & its hard)

6 of my 44 Wii games (13.636%) are M rated. Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, No More Heroes, Call of Duty: World at War, MadWorld, and Tenchu: Shadow Assassins.

HALF (14/28) of my Wii collection is rated M, MA or 16+ by PEGI for my couple of Euro games. Wiiware and VC not included.

Let's break it down and briefly discuss the Australian ratings system.
MA15+
These games are restricted by law from sale to people under the age of 15 due to their content. That said I bought several MA15+ games as a 12 year as because shop keepers are clowns.

• Resident Evil 4

- Medium level animated violence

• House of the Dead Overkill

- Strong horror violence (no mention is made of it's frequent coarse language)

• Madworld

- Strong bloody violence, strong course language

• Technu

- Strong violence

M
These games are recommended for mature audiences. It is not illegal to supply minors with M related material.

• Okami

- Moderate sexual references, moderate fantasy (seriously)

• Trauma Center Second Opinion

- Surgical procedures

• Trauma Center New Blood

- Surgical procedures

• Disaster: Day of Crisis

- Violence, themes and infrequent course language

• Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

- Moderate science fiction violence

• Deadly Creature

- Violence

• Zelda: Twilight Princess

- Moderate fantasy violence (First Zelda game to be rated M, all previous ones were G, PG or the now defunct G8+)

• Battalion Wars II

- Moderate themes, moderate violence

• No More Heroes

- Moderate violence, sexual references and coarse language

• Tomb Raider Anniversary

- Moderate violence (Quick trivia, every single console Tomb Raider game had been rated M previously, which until recently was a rarely classified grey area except Tomb Raider Legend which was reclassified as PG 5 months after release. Tomb Raider Legend is of course the one that had an official downloadable costume which put Lara in a translucent bikini. Welcome to Australia)

Anyway so eitehr my ratings baord is soft or I'm just a true hardcore mature gamer while you guys are kiddies.

RABicle, it sounds like your "M" rating is the same as the ESRB's "T" (13+) rating. All of the games you mentioned except No More Heroes are rated "T" by the ESRB.

It basically makes the distinction that in Australia, teens are mature.  In Amerika, they're not.

I own three third party games.  Two of those I haven't even broken the seal on yet.  But, of course, that wasn't the question... (although, since Nintendo hasn't made any M rated games, that really hurts the chances of me having any....)

We have no M rating so I'll go for games rated 16 which is a number close enough to the 17 of the M rating.

Of the "M" rated games mentioned the only one which I'm interested in is Resident Evil 4, the reason being that I've never played a Resident Evil game. I've heard many people claim it is the best in the series so it seems like the one to get if I wanted to try one.

You mean because you rarely buy third-party games? I'm the same way. I don't see what's so wrong with that, I can't help it if Nintendo are the ones who create the types of games I like.

I can't say anything about that because those games were so excessively violent they weren't released here.

RABicle, it sounds like your "M" rating is the same as the ESRB's "T" (13+) rating. All of the games you mentioned except No More Heroes are rated "T" by the ESRB.

Yeah I noticed that although we have games here rated PG (formerly G8+) that you guys have rated T. Smash Bros, Links Crossbow Training and many more of your T games are PG here. A lot of it has to do with different values our societies hold, for example any gambling instantly gets a game a PG here, hence why Pokémon and often, Mario games are rated PG alongside the likes of Tomb Raider Legend. If Disaster Day of Fist was released in America it would probably get an M, Americans seem more offended by swearing. Here, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) has it's sex scene fall under MA15+ while Fallout 3 was initially refused classification (banned) because real drugs were seen to give positive in game effects. You guys got a censored version of Fahrenheit but even games like Mark Ecco's Getting Up aren't banned.

50%, but that's mainly because I only still own 4 Wii games: Fire Emblem - Radiant Dawn; Resident Evil 4 Wii; Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles; and Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess.  I've owned other games in the past (Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, No More Heroes, HotD: O, Madworld, Zack & Wiki, Metroid Prime 3, etc.), but they've never managed to prove themselves worthy of being kept whenever I've needed trade-in credit for some other game (or they're getting new releases very soon).

Well, I did very briefly own Alone in the Dark (Wii) and Oopona before I traded both in due to them being utter garbage, but I think those are the only 2 I left out.

EDIT: Damn, how could I forget I still own Smash Bros Brawl? Man, having my Wii loaned out to my best friend for the last 5 months really did a number on my memory.
