Billy Mays passes away
« on: June 28, 2009, 02:36:20 PM »
In a week where we already lost Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, celebrity spokesman Billy Mays died in his sleep this morning at age 50. Mays is well known for his beards and booming voice that he used to help sell products like OxiClean and Kaboom. He also has a show on Discovery Channel with fellow pitchman Anthony Sullivan called "Pitchmen". He just appeared on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian" a couple of weeks ago.

What is it with Internet memes dying this week?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Mighty Putty is fucking useless, you can get JB Weld/QuickSteel, etc. for $3 at Wal-Mart. I tried OxiClean too, and it sucked...and Kaboom! too. He sold garbage. No disrespect to the man himself, but the bullshit that he hawked was pure crap. I heard that he was on that plane that had a blowout the other day, and that something hit his head...might just be a rumor.

When I worked one hour photo, we had white lab coats.  This was a stupid idea, considering the amount of photo chemistry we were exposed to.

Anywhoo, I was amazed when I tried OxyClean to get the stains about of my lab coats - it did wonders.  Like, old stains that I thought would never come out even.

One time I tried using OxyClean on my carpet and something magical happened.  I watched as the OxyClean picked up the stain, drifted over a few inches, and placed the stain back down into the carpet.

It didn't clean anything (just moved it over a bit) but my god it was incredible.

next time you clean the carpet, just make sure you have "stain rag" that you can transfer the stain to.
problem solved. :)

Hahaha I did have a rag, it just happened so quickly and magically that I just stared at it in awe.  Unfortunately when I tried cleaning it a second time it did nothing.

I have mixed feelings about OxyClean.

Wow, I just saw an Oxyclean ad yesterday.  It was the first time I had seen an ad with him in years and it brought a smile to my face.  See I had thought he had gone to jail for some violent altercation with a hooker or something but my brother informed me it was someone else.  So I was pleasently surprised to see him still doing ads.

And now he's dead.  He had just "returned" into my life and now he's gone.  It was more conforting to think he was in jail.

is there a "as seen on TV" store in your area? You could always go there and try to steal the tapes/dvd's of his looped commercials they constantly play near the product he's selling. You could always have him in your life that way!
