Have you heard of the Gameboy Player? and do you think it is a good idea cos i do. This is becuse you can then play the games that have come out or are coming out on a gameboy advance or gameboy colour so you can buy games for that without having to have the gameboy which i think is pretty cool.

What do you think?

I like the idea. I'm surprised there hasnt been a third party version of this out already. Although there  was something that could output the GBA to a TV, but you would still have to have a GBA. I'm not sure how the games will look blown up on a tv, but it is definately worth checking out.

I would still recommend getting a GBA since a lot of games for Gamecube will use it somehow. It was a very nice addition to Zelda WW.

The GBA is for gamers who want to be able to bring their games anywhere without the hassle of a tv and cords etc..
IMO, the game boy player should not be a replacement for the gba but rather an added addition to your collection.  Anyway the game boy player is going to be nice to have.  Just imagine street fighter alpha 3 on your tv or even tekken advance w/the GC controller...Excellent!!

Does anyone know if the gameboy player will be able to interface with the gamecube memory cards? One major downside of some games like pokemon are that they can only save one file. So if I want to share the games with my brothers I can't have my own save file. I know the gameshark can save game saves, but that is a lot of hassle. If I could just play the game on my TV that would be great.

I disagree, even though I liked the idea that it is on the GameCube. It's kinda stupid becuase the damn price is like $59.99 thats like buying a new GameBoy Advance. The Price is well over the limit, I mean back in the old days they had a GameBoy Color one for the Playstation. And what do you know? It costed $19.99 which is perfect. Think about it thats crazy, I mean its like if u would buy a new GBA!!!

EBGames.com is reporting the price as 49.99. As I recall, the Super Gameboy was somewhere in the neighborhood of $40-$50. It was worth every penny.

No, I would definitely not hold my breath for this, because it's not gonna happen.  I have mixed feelings about this though.  Nintendo launches it in Japan, but we heard basically nothing about it, are they trying to hide it, is it worth the money?  I just have my doubts.

Nintendo wouldn't, but a third-party would.  It plugged into the parallel port in the back.  Just like the third-party N64 GBC adapter, I'm sure it could only emulate the game and not the sounds, so you couldn't get the full experience.

Well I just got my imported Gameboy Player yesterday and my friend and I modded my Cube to use it.  So far I really like it.  It' s nice to able to see everything and it's pretty much like another SNES.  My only gripe is that on my 27" TV everything looks quite pixilated.  It would have been nice to have to ability to have more than two different screen sizes and be able to shrink the screen down.  It looks fine on my friends 20" so I guess they're not expecting people to have bigger TVs.

Modding the Cube was scary as hell.  It's very nerve-wracking to see your Gamecube in pieces while your friend who's never done this before figures out how to solder such a tiny switch.  Hopefully I never have to do that again.

One thing worth noting is that the copyright sticker on the bottom of the Japanese GB Player is in English which is rather odd considering the Japanese Gamecube has Japanese on the bottom.  It seems more likely than ever that the hardware is identical and that the disc alone is what changes the region.

Can anybody with a GB Player help me with a translation?  I know that you can set the screen to soft, normal, or sharp but since I can't read Japanese I don't know which is which (some guy told me what they are in regards to top, middle, and bottom which makes no sense since if you hold up you can cycle through all of them).  One setting is three characters and the others are four.  If someone tells me what the three character one is then I can figure out the rest.

I think the GBP is a great idea.  No more squinting your eyes at 1 am in the morning trying to see what's going on.  I'm buying it.
Currently Playing:  LOZ:TWW

SOA just moved into my top 5 favorite games of all time.

I'll need to look at it again.  I'm not sure on the spellings since some of them are using long vowels.  I'll let you know when I get a chance.

How badly pixilated will it be on a 61 inch TV?

Might not be worth the purchase if it is  to bad.

Also do you think that all those people who own gameboys might go out and get a cube  and player so they can play their gameboy library of games on  a TV screen?

I've seen it on huge 60"+ TVs and it looks better than you'd think.  Unfortunately, it's going to be a matter of preference and it depends on the game.  Pokemon for instance looks a little blurry, but other games look fine.  Dangit!  I need time to get my impressions written.

AAEEIII!! I love my (import) Game Boy Player!

It lets me see my Gameboy games on the television.

I haven't translated the menus or instructions, but the options seem to be very simple.

Anyway.. Ever since I bought the Game Boy Player a little more than a week ago, I haven't popped in a single GC disc (minus the GBP boot disk).

It has reinvigorated my interest in GB games and inspired me to expand on my collection starting with Sonic Advance 2.

I sure do love Cream 'n' Tails...

Next comes, Castleviania, oh hell yes.
