Multi tasking, custom apps & 5mp camera sounds good. I'm gonna have to look that phone up.

edit: I can't upgrade till 1 year from monday :(

That sucks. It's a horrible situation to be in when theres a nice new phone you'd like to upgrade to and can't bring yourself to just dump the kinda money they're asking for!

The last time it happened to me, i was using one of those really cheap free phones they give you when you upgrade, because i wasn't using my cell as much then. When i wanted to upgrade to something else, anything really, i had a year left on my contract and the phones i was looking at weren't on T-mobile so i had no choice but to wait it out. Luckily in that same time frame, they announced the G1 and it seemed like a decent phone and happened to come out the same time i could upgrade, so instead of a $400 phone i got it for a lil over $100 with the new contract. Even though i had doubts about the phone before purchase, it won me over and became the best phone i've ever had.

Anyway, wait out the year and i'm sure they'll have even better phones then since the tech moves out so quickly. No doubt they'll be an Xth iPhone redesign by then if you wanna go that route :P

Exactly.  Its always best to wait as the tech will be impressive and cheaper with the subsidy.  Thats why I kept my 2G last year when the 3G was released.  Now that I'm eligible for the subsidy the question is, do I bite now, or wait it out another year in the hopes that the next iteration will offer the long awaited hologram teleconferencing.

I should be getting one....

But only after I see if I can afford the wedding and a house. =P

I have an iPod touch right now that I carry everywhere... I can't wait to not have to carry a phone to and not be tethered to the WiFi requirement.

Te phone Brandogg has is nice and its $700 to upgrade out of contract. Icurrently have the LG Dare and while it was a significant upgrade from the phone I had before, I wish it could do more. Besides the phoneis starting to lag between button push and phone reaction. its kinda annoying. Time to upgrade. Its gonna be another long 1 yr wait.

In typical rip-off fashion we get super shafted more than usual. The original 3G iphone is still £350, while the 8GB 3GS is £440 on prepay.

Yeah i've noticed on my search for a new phone (before i ended up with the G1 i have now). Before i didn't really care so i didn't mind having the cheap phone with no camera and lame ringtones (it was always on vibrate anyway). Once i came into a little more money and decided to upgrade to a more mature phone device, and started researching the type of phone that would suit my needs/wants i was floored at how fast paced this **** all is!

The phone i wanted was pretty good but one look at other smart phones in the pipeline and i knew i was better off just waiting. I've had my current phone since October and already there's at least 2 direct successors to it that I know will have me tempted whenever they're released (which will most likely be close to my 1 year mark, yet i have a 2 year contract grr!). I don't want to become one of those people that botheres keeping up with everything though, i'll upgrade my phone when i'm good and ready, and that means:

A. My phone is worn out to the core (which i've done before)
B. My contracts are up and there's something attractive on the market worth getting.

It makes me glad console tech doesn't get utilized as fast as phone tech does.

I've posted pics of one of my phones before, it was i think 2 upgrades ago. The top part of the phone was only held to the bottom part of the phone by a data cable, but still worked just fine.
Now that is worn out, I loved that phone but was forced to upgrade.

The last upgrade I did was 4 months after I was eligible since I was waiting to see what new phones were coming out. Got the LG but now I wasnt that Samsung. My last phone b4 this ine was a samsung, and I wasn't impressed with it, but it it did have a really good camera for the time.

Now I'm just looking for something iPhone-ish thats not an iPhone.

Plenty of options now. Good luck finding one.

edit: BUT TRY BEFORE YOU BUY!

I was lucky that my phone worked out great, but it was risky that i paid for it and had it shipped to the house as a t-mobile customer pre-order, before ever getting to touch the damn thing in a store. It works great, so yeah i lucked out. On the other hand, i bought my girlfriend the Samsung Behold cuz she wanted a cool touch screen phone, wanted something smaller than my phone and didn't want the slide out keyboard my G1 has.

I bought it as a surprise present and played with it for a few mins before tricking her into giving me her old phone so i can swap her sim card out and i didn't really like the way the touch screen worked. I felt it wasn't controlling as smoothly as mine. She's fine with it, but sometimes it looks like she has trouble navigating a web page. If i had that sorta trouble with my phone i woulda been piiiiissed.

I got 1 yr to wait, so I'm not actively looking right now.
