Basketball was revealed at the Nintendo Press Conference this morning. Check out how it plays.

Revealed this morning at NintendoÂ’s E3 Media Briefing, Basketball is one of at least 12 events in Wii Sports Resort. Right after the press conference, I got a chance to try it out.

The three point challenge that was demoed by Bill Trinen and Reggie Fils-Aime at the press conference was playable. It controls very simply; you motion to your side with the Wii Remote and press B to pick up a ball, and then you go through the arching motion of actually shooting a basketball. It requires no button pressing besides to pick up the ball.

This specific game is all about the rhythm of going through the motion of shooting a basketball. The Wii MotionPlus is quite accurate and does an admirable job of replicating the feeling of shooting a basketball, but it lacks a bit of the tactile feel of actually shooting a basketball.

It seems to have the same pro and con that I think most Wii MotionPlus games have: It is realistic, but it can be very difficult to grasp at first.

How does the game determine the accuracy of your shot?  Is it by how hard/fast/smooth your motion is or is it more in the rhythm/timing of the shot?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!
