Two animated films;

Stan Lee Presents: Mosaic 7/10

Decent movie with a somewhat annoying main charcter. Without revealing anything about the movie, the main character is a girl (voiced by Anna Paquin) who gets cool powers. The enemy is intriguing, as well as is his plan to take over the world, which if explained a little more thoroughly (especially in place of a few horrible 'jokes') would have been even better. There are a few plot holes throughout, namely at the villains defeat, but overall the movie was decently good.

Rob Zombie Presents: The Haunted World of El Superbeasto 7.5/10

Very funny movie that gets in the way of its own plot by trying not to take itself too serious. There is A LOT of nudity in this movie, and they make jokes about that as well, like saying it's okay to masturbate to animated pornography because Japanes men do it all the time... I found the story to be rather good, but it is often lost in the flurry of jokes and nudity that are (a little too) constant throughout the movie. Despite its problems, it's still a good movie.

I was entertained by Mosaic. Its a step above the Dead Space movie, though not as well done as the Saturday morning cartoons I grew up with. I think there was supposed to be a 'twist' but its so obvious that it fell on its face.

Clash of the Titans (remake) - 7/10
This movie is a metaphor for how Hollywood prefers fake over real and the loss of heart as the result. Its a fine action film. A couple of good decisions with the story to make it fresh, and a slew of bad ones to make it mediocre. A beautiful Medussa? Really? And we need some tag alongs to explain the secrets of the world? Please. I like how the Fates were handled. I liked the inclusion of the Majin (but riding giant scorpions? no thanks). And why only 2 talking Gods? I thought the Krakin was Poseidon's beast, as well as being one of the original 3. Where was he? I like the movie more than the Planet of the Apes remake, but it falls short of the original.

I agree with you on both movies, but Medusa was beautiful in the original legend, in fact, as I beleieve they mention in the movie, it was the very reason she was cursed. Any man who looked on her beauty would be turned to stone, making her beauty worthless.

I have no interest in seeing Hollywood butcher a great film like Clash of the Titan, so I don't know what reasons they give for anything. Being a mythology buff however, the commonly accepted legend is that Medusa was a beautiful attendant in Athena's temple. She was however seduced by Poseidon and slept with him in Athena's temple. As punishment, Athena cursed her with serpentine hair which turn men into stone. But that's just how Ovid wrote it many generations later.

That said, Medusa is originally believed to have been the daughter of two ancient sea gods (not Olympians, but not Titans either) and was in fact always a horrific monster. ;)

I can't even bother to your write-up, because this was easily one of the wost movies I've seen in my entire life. Honestly, I would give it a 2 or 3 out of 10. It's the worst movie I've seen since The Mummy Curse of the Dragon Emporer.

As the description of the curse was described in the movie, Athena was said to have cursed her so no man would want her, leading me to believe an ugly visage would be a giant turn-off. A head full of snakes would be one too, though.

I haven't seen The Mummy Curse of the Dragon Emporer, so I can't comment on that. But I have definately seen worse movies than Clash of the Titans. Like, Date Night. Or, the Replacement Killers. And the already mentioned Tim Burton Planet of the Apes. Though Sam Worthington doesn't bring anything to the film. He plays the same guy in every movie. His IMDB listing says he's filming Wrath of the Titans... and Avatar 3 ?!? I like the guy and I hear he's a big sci fi geek, but he doesn't seem to have a range of mannerisms.

I enjoy bad movies far more than anyone should, but even I couldn't sit through The Mummy: Curse of the Dragon Emperor.  It was beyond terrible.  Even if the comparison to Clash of the Titans isn't accurate, the possibility is enough to scare me away from watching this film.

Latest movie watched: Super High Me.  Quick summary: poorly made and pointless.  It was actually my wife's idea to watch, since she thought it would either be humorous or educational.  It didn't manage either, and felt totally aimless for the majority of the movie.  You get the feeling that people making the movie thought that it was so crazy that they could film someone smoking pot, they didn't need to bother doing anything else.  Can't remember the last time that both of us regretted watching a movie this much... our time would've been better spent sitting silently in front of a blank TV screen than watching this trash.

I wasn't going to say anything, but several people have gotten the name wrong now. It is The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (not "Curse").

I don't think it matters what it's called TJ, the Mummy 3 is a horrid abortion of a movie. I have to wonder how much Jet Li got paid for what was essentially 5 minutes of "work". Even Brandon Frasier who is normally a pretty charming guy has the charisma of a corpse. Throw in the fact they couldn't even get Rachel Wise back just nails that coffin shut. This is so bad it almost makes the first 2 movies worthy of a Oscar Nomination in the category of cheesy enjoyable films.

That wasn't nice, Dasmos. Hopefully you said that out of the side of your mouth.

I for one wasn't sure what movie was brandogg was talking about since he didn't use punctuation. I had to google it and took a sec to realize he was referring to The Mummy 3.

I liked Let Li in The One, but it has some pretty cheesy acting. Goes along with Time Cop and Soldier (Kurt Russel) and Fortress. 90s B sci-fi with kinda big names. Demolition Man was one of the best of those.

its very easy to go after foreign actors for their lack of acting ability...mainly because english isnt their first language...Jet Li however has shown the ability to nuance. That being said Mummy 3 looked like a **** movie. I always liked the first mummy movie, and never got the hate. I think most of the hate was directed at it being a remake, but I always saw the newer mummy series as an indianna jones type series and the original as a horror movie. They share plot points, but I just saw them as totally different movie franchises.

I was super disappointed in Mummy 3. I knew it was going down hill when the female lead was switched out. So sad as it did have the potential to be a new Indiana Jones type of film series. I loved the first and the second was alright but not amazing. I'm pretty sure they had hoped to set up the son as the new lead in future movies and pull Fraser.

yeah, with the mummy they should have focused on Brendan Frasers character and had him unlocking all sorts of temple curses and stuff. The sequel was just kinda pointless, and the third one was like "ugh, ok so we did Egyptian mummies...so Chinese mummies?" Should have done Aztec mummies, or just some temple magic bullshit. Giving the main character a kid was also stupid as hell. If you have a badass archaeologist don't give him a kid. Also, don't have his ass be married in the sequel. Give him a new hot chick and pull a James Bond. Nobody, wants a tied down archaeologist..if i want that I would just take more classic courses at my University. Hey Doctor Soren? Oh you met George Lucas in Tunisia when he was scouting out locations for Star Wars..i totally believe that because your a flippin archaeologist and thats badass.

Extraordinary Measures: 8/10

I'm actually not entirely sure how I feel about this movie.

I stayed away from it because I thought Brendan Fraser would be terrible in a movie of this sort, but I was wrong he was only slighty bad.

Then there's the misleading title and description; there are only two or three moments of extraordinary measures, and it supposed to be about his two sick kids. However, they mainly focus on the daughter, and for the first 20 minutes or so I forgot it was supposed to be about two sick kids because they only showed the sick daughter and healthy son, with only a glimpse of the sick son.

Harrison Ford saved this movie imo. If a lesser actor had played the doctor there would be no point to this movie; it would have been another generic, feelgood, story of hope. Harrison Ford's character added the driving dynamic to the whole movie and it might have even been more interesting if it was told from his point of view.
Overall, a decent, if plebian, movie that I gave an extra point for Harrison Ford.

Despicable Me - Blatant Rip off of everything Rabbids Go Home yet still enjoyable on it own even knowing that.

Seriously, it's like they weren't even hiding the fact that they ripped it off and were counting on the majority of people to have just never played a rabbids game, and especially not RGH (which is true, sadly the majority missed out on an entertaining game).
This movie is about a bunch of Rabbids Minions (sorry I get them confused since they look alike<minus the ears>, sound alike<identical laugh> and act alike<every mannerism, interaction and movement>) who are helping this mad scientist get to the moon so he outdo a rival "evil villain" and and earn the respect of his community back.

Everything these Minions do lives and breathes Rabbids. It's almost as if they were originally making a Rabbids movie and somewhere in the middle of development they changed their minds and had to slightly alter things to not infringe on copyrights. They removed the rabbid ears and added more teeth and game some of them only one eye, but they are still rabbids. They needed to get to the moon, but the Evil Bank wouldn't fund them anymore so they had to collect all the random things they could find to build a rocket (instead of just stacking it to get to the moon). There was even a dance scene on a multi-colored dance floor just like in the original Rayman Raving Rabbids game.

Overall the movie had charm, had it's funny moments and was fun to watch, but the similarities are so obvious that it was a little distracting throughout the entire movie.

Buried

I like this move. If I remember right, it was based on a true story and that story fuckin sucks. I can't imagine being trapped in a coffin with only a lighter, a cellphone, a knife and a pen then have to not only figure out where I am, but how the hell I'm supposed to get out of there.RR did an excellent job up displaying the frustration that I can only imagine everyone would go through waking up in that situation. Everything about it is fucked up from beginning to end.

Tenderness: 8.5/10

Really good movie about a teenager who killed his parents being released from jail and meeting a girl who isn't scared of him despite knowing his past. This is in NO WAY a love story, but I like to go onto a movie as fresh as possible and thus I give my reviews that way.

The only thing I didn't like about this movie is that I would have liked some more depth to Russel Crowe's character. The movie also moved slowly in the beginning but the ending made up for that in a huge way.

To give a little more info about the movie it basically boils down to two kids being fucked up by the actions of their mothers. Also a quote from the movie that furthers that point; "There are two kinds of people in this world, those who are seeking pleasure, and those who are running from pain." Not an exact quote btw.
