Nintendo's Australian branch details the price and launch dates of the upcoming game and peripheral.

 Nintendo of Australia recently announced the price and release date of Nintendo's latest peripheral, Wii MotionPlus, and Wii Sports sequel Wii Sports Resort. The standalone peripheral will be released on June 11 with a price of $29.95 AU or $39.00 NZ.    

Wii Sports Resort will be available on July 23 and will be bundled with one Wii MotionPlus peripheral at a price of $99.95 AU or $129.00 NZ. Wii Sports Resort is a collection of mini-games such as golf, ping-pong, and disc tossing that demonstrates the Wii MotionPlus functionality.

Come on Nintendo, why is North America getting the game last? I know it's only 3 days after Australia and 2 days after Europe, but still no reason for us to get it last when we are the strongest market for the Wii (and have been the strongest market for Nintendo consoles for a long time, and basically the only place where the N64 actually did a good job against the PSX).

Maybe that is the reason? Because they are trying to increase their market share in those regions?

Thanks to Europe not wanting to buy Disaster: Day of Crisis and Fatal Frame IV Nintendo looks like they won't release them here. They should be punished instead of rewarded. j/k

i understand that Australia is few hours fly from anywhere else on Earth, but those prices seem ridiculous. If my math is correct that translates to $78.27 for Wiisports Resort. I don't want to guess how much tax is on those games.

Australia has a 10% Goods and Service tax, but even with that $77 US (according to xe.com) is pretty expensive for games. From people I have talked to who live in Australia though most people buy games at stores that charge less than the recommended price (although still more expensive than in the US, which is why a lot of them choose to just import games).
