.hack isn't a real MMORPG so it souldn't be on the list. It doesn't even connect to the internet. It would be good for those who like MMORPG, but I don't and I wouldn't pay for one either. For even though Nintendo is working so its games will not have a monthly charge as referred to in some interviews, the third party can charge and they usally charge per game.

But its unlikely because there is not that big of audience (and audience that will keep an MMORPG viaible) on the Gamecube.

when it's all over, i'd love to see bandai make a MMORPG based on "The World" in the .hack series.

Its not a Massively Multiplayer On-line RPG. PSO is Multiplayer On-line RPG. You can only play PSO with 4 players at a time on line. Well you can interact in the lobby but its not the same as a Everquest, Anarchy Online, or a Asheron's Call 2. Well you have huge guilds and coordinate attacks on large creatures....such as dragons with dozen's of guild members.

Ok, I still don't see the disctinction, as I don't play a lot of either game, but I still think that they are more similar than dissimilar.

yeah thats true- i dont like online games anyway
but there is a difference
in pso you can only go adventuring with 4 people at a time
in mmorpg you go out adventuring with many people at a time (sometimes up to 50 or more) and all people can be seen on screen at that same time
not the biggest difference in the world but lots of people are addicted to those games
i call the big one bitey.

Let's clear this up. In a MMORPG, you are in game with all other game participants. There is no going out to adventure with parties. You are ALL in the SAME world, essentially. There could be hundreds, thousands, even a hundred thousand other players on that server with you, all interacting with each other. There is no need to go out in a party. You could, possibly, run into every single person in that world while adventuring.

That is the difference between PSO and a game such as Ultima Online. All characters exist in game at the same time while connected. You're all "in-game." Also, in a MMORPG, the game never technically stops. It continues without your existence. The game world, with all of its players, goes on indefinitely while the server runs and you can jump into that world and do whatever you want, play with whoever you want, die whenever you want... it's really pretty submersive.

Before I make this more confusing than it was before... yes, you do have "parties" but they aren't the people you're choosing to play the game with, really. You're all just decidedly together because you're teaming up, not because you want to get in the same game with each other. You're free to do whatever you want because those people exist with you whether you want them to or not as long as you play in the same world.

There's a HUGE difference between massive multi-player online and just multi-player online.

if nintendo wants to eliminate charges, then they need to make the game, and not a third party.

i hope thats what they're doing. they're setting it up perfectly for it. so far they've left some gaps of story untold, and they could keep doing that until a MMORPG is released, it could be like the final saga of the series, explaining everything. and it'd be awesome to go around killing people like sora does. his twin blades are awesome.

after the 4 games comes a manga, novel, and movie.  So we got a bit of a wait, but if it is played right i can almost guarentee we could see "The World" in stores.

Just make a Pokemon MMORPG and Nintendo would most likely be set for lots of money.
They can continually add more and more pokemon and quests to keep the game fresh!
Or come up with a fresh new franchise.
