I thought about starting a new thread in the gen chat, but then I remembered how active this thread once was.  I've seen a few others resurrected recently so why not, as it does relate to this game, at least from my angle.  Personally, I've got nothing against what he did, its just sad really.  Dude is definitely acting up on years of having little opportunities.  He should of just stayed single, ain't no shame in that.

To tie it back to the game though, whatever your stance is, it will be different playing it point forward since he's the face of the franchise.  There is a reason a single Tiger commercial hasn't aired since around Nov 27th.  Its just going to be hard over the next year or so to look at him and not wonder why he risked so much for a Perkins waitress and a few others.  And in un-Tiger like fashion, he was totally sloppy about it.  Theres a reason why Arnold Palmer was known as "The King".  Wasn't he taking notes?

I wonder how Tiger Woods 2011 is coming along.  I'm sure the dev team was pretty shocked.  My guess is they'll still working on the game as usual and may just remove him if things take an even worse turn over the next few years.  In all likely hood though, he'll step back onto the links in Jan and start the ball moving the other way and we'll see another Tiger game next year.  Should be interesting.  Has EA said anything?

This whole thing will blow over in a couple weeks. Everyone that is not directly involved is just trying to lay low until the dust settles. This will not affect any sponsorships or endorsements as everyone will have forgotten about this after Tiger wins another World Tour or 2.

If anything I respect relate to him more for being a human being and less a Golfbot. It shows that he isn't perfect and is just like an other person.

This will not blow over in a few weeks. And they pulled every add of him on tv since thanksgiving. He cheated with at least 10 women, I hope he goes down in flames. But like Koby, he will be back on top the moment he wins another championchip.

EA said they support him in his troubled times and their relationship has not changed, so his games will keep coming out I assume.

They pulled every ad because they don't want to drag this controversy on any longer than it has to be. No need to throw yourself in the line of fire at this specific time. There have been no canceled contracts that I have heard of and it's unlikely to affect his career in any meaningful way. He will lose a few fans, but fans come and go.

actually i heard of pepsi pulling the plug on a Tiger energy drink, but the news report i heard claims the decision was made before that story actually broke because pepsi simply didn't want to enter the energy drink market.

Um, no. KOTAKU has their doubts. EA Sports has not done anything to give doubt. A blogging site making assumptions about routine PR statements is hardly proof of anything. This is just another case of a site trying to get free hits by making a story out of nothing.

I think if Tiger had "transgressed" with one or two girls, then people would be giving him a lot more slack -- "he's only human", "it's hard to live up to the image of perfection we've assigned to him", etc, etc.

However, as things have turned out, the sheer scale (as kotaku says "it appears he's slept with every porn star and cocktail waitress north of the Mexican border") makes it a lot harder for people to just dismiss; it paints him less as a flawed-but-still-basically-good-boy, and more as kind of a jerk.  And given the general audience for golf games (older, a bit conservative), companies selling them really don't want a philandering jerk as their figurehead (it's not just his golf game that made him so popular).

A better comparison would be Kobe Bryant.  He is a fellow sports superstar who cheated on his wife and was even accused of rape, something Tiger is not, and he is back on the ad train after laying low for a bit.
This is a speed bump for Tiger and while companies may avoid him in the very very near term that is it.
