I dunno WHAT the Bulls' problem was last night. The Hawks have no one to guard Rose, why wasn't he driving on every single possession? A game where Derrick Rose doesn't get to the free throw line is one that he's either not playing right or one where the refs aren't watching. Seriously, Rose should be dropping 40 points and 15 assists a game against the Hawks, easy.

Before the playoffs started, I think all of Chicago was thinking championship or bust, but after a rocky first round against Indiana, a lazy game 1 against Atlanta and the Heat seeming to be putting it all together against Boston, I'd be mildly surprised if they make it past the conference finals. We'll see though.

I wouldn't doubt the Celtics just yet. The Heat having been playing at their BEST, but they barely put away the Celtics only winning by 9 or less points. When you take foul shots into consideration, that's hardly winning at all.

As soon as the Celtics start to turn up the heat (no pun intended), we'll really see what kind of perseverance Miami has.

Well, the playoffs just got a lot more interesting tonight as the Mavs buried the Lakers to take a 2-0 lead in the series.  The thought of a Finals without the Lakers for ****ing once makes me giddy, as does the thought of all the arrogant and annoying Lakers fans hyperventilating at the thought of the Anointed Ones not making it to the playoffs.  I can just imagine King Stern wringing his hands over trying to make a Dallas/Memphis-Boston/Heat Finals series sell for Television.

Well, I detest the Mavs so I'm not happy to see the Lakers down 2-0. I really, really just don't want to see Boston or Miami win the championship, especially Miami. Lebron is a beast on the court, but his attitude irks the **** out of me. Jordan and Bryant were both arrogant, yet less annoyingly so.

I think the Lakers can make a comeback. I felt like Laker beat themselves more than the Mavs beat them. The Lakers are the better team in terms of talent. They have better players, but they get lazy. This is a problem they've had all season. Losing to the Cavs? Really? In Games 1 and 2, the Mavs are just playing harder.

Remember when I told Derrick Rose he should be scoring 40 points a game against the Hawks and then he did that? That was awesome.

The Bulls played their best game of the postseason tonight. I'm glad they did that before the conference finals. Meanwhile, in Los Angeles...

Okay what is going on with the Lakers this post season? They strugled versus the Hornets and now they haven't even won a game versus the Mavs. They have to do the impossible.Win 4 games in a row to even make it to the Conference Finals. If the Mavs win then I guess I will have to root for them of the West playoffs to win it. This whole playoffs have been odd. With the Grizzlies winning the first round versus the number 1 seed Spurs. The Hawks beat the Magic in the first round. It just seems like things aren't going how they should. For now in the East I am rooting for the Bulls to win the East. I really don't like the Heat that much.

I don't know what happened to the Lakers. They were playing inconsistently all year. I thought it was because they were just not taking the regular series seriously, but judging by their performance in the playoffs, they kind of just got lazy. If they lose in the second round, they'll probably attempt to blow up the roster considering this is Phil Jackson's last season and they have to decide to stick with the Triangle offense or hire a coach who does things entirely differently though I'm not sure there's a coach not named Phil Jackson or Mike Krzyzewski who Bryant respects enough to listen to and the Lakers aren't getting Krzyewski to leave Duke. Bryant and Gasol are probably the only untouchable players. Besides Odom and Bynum, I'm not sure anyone wants to touch some of those contracts, particularly Ron Artest's.

If the Lakers don't make history and gain 4 experience points to raise a level, I'm rooting for the Bulls despite my general dislike of Carlos Boozer.

First post in this thread! I'm a big NBA fan and just thought I'd say... the Hawks looked like the Hawks of the regular season last night. The one time Jeff Teague looks like he's going to rise to the occasion everyone else can't do it.

Well it is official. The Lakers are out of the 2011 playoffs. Got swept by the Mavs. Few things with the Lakers these playoffs. It seemed like they didn't take their opponents seriously. They were not hungry and in each of the first games in the first two rounds they lost. 3 point shooting and closing out quarters wasn't there. If you have a lead you need to know how to close games and not just hope that your lead will save you. As demonstrated in Game 4 versus the Mavs. They need to know how to defend against the 3 and if you can't then you need better 3 point shooters on your side. I think out of the teams in the West the mavs I think has what it takes to win against the East representative in the Finals.

Well, I'm certainly happy for Dallas.  They've been thoroughly humiliated since they were upset by the Warriors years back, so it's good to see them do well and better still to sweep the (not nearly as hated as the Heat) f-ing Lakers.  And meanwhile we have the Playoff-Rookie Grizzlies leading over the overhyped Thunder.  The only way this round of the Playoffs could get any better would be if the Celtics would take out the most-hated Heat and then the Hawks (somehow, though extremely unlikely) find a way to take out the Bulls.  Just imagining a Mavs/Grizzlies vs. Hawks Finals makes me smile.

I think we know, hand over heart, that Stern will not let that happen. You're going to be seeing a lot of Bennett Salvatore in the next few weeks.

Well the East finals have been decided. Bulls and Heat. Between those two I want the Bulls to win. Thunder and Grizzlies will play game 6 at 9pm EST. Thunder is up 3 games to 2.

Congrats to the Grizzlies for storming back from down by 13 points in the first half to win Game 6 against the Thunder by 12 points and giving us our first 7 game series.  As both teams have won on the opposing team's floor, this series could go either way.  However this ends, this has been a great series (certainly the most competitive so far).

Well Thunder is going to face the Mavs in the West. The Bulls have won the first game versus the Heat.I think it is going to be the Bulls and Mavs in the Finals.  I think the keys for the Bulls will be stopping 2 of the 3 big players. Bosh,Wade,James. They did it last night and won. Defense is going to play a big part in the series.

The Thunder and Mavs I think the key will be the point guard play and transition defense.

Looks like the Heat and Mavs are heading to the Finals again.Last time they went head to head it was 5 years ago and the Heat won then.Of course I am rooting for the Mavs in this series.I think the Mavs will win in 6 games.

I'm hoping the Mavs pull it out as well, if for no other reason than to deter the rest of the Big Money teams of the league from also trying to essentially buy a championship.  We'll see if the NBA Refs are as biased against the Mavs this time as they were the last time these two teams met in the Finals.

I feel for the Bulls, they didn't lose more than 2 in a row all season and they were in front in the later stages of both the last two games. Also Derrick Rose is my new favourite player.

Rooting for the Mavs though as well, Dirk Nowitzki deserves a Championship.

I'm gutted. My Bears, Bulls and Blackhawks have all broken my heart in the last four months. My White Sox are garbage. The only joy I'm getting is that the Cubs are slightly more garbage than the White Sox, which is a sad existence as a Chicago sports fan.

Still, had you told me at the beginning of the year the Bulls would have made it to the conference finals, I would have been pretty pleased. The other thing is the future looks pretty damned bright for the Bulls. They're under the salary cap, all their best players are young and will hopefully get even better, they have a good coach, etc. A lot of pieces are in place here. We'll be back.

The Lakers got a new coach in Mike Brown. From what I hear he is a good defensive coach but not much of a offensive one. I guess maybe the focus will be get points by being a solid defensive team.He was the Head coach of the Cavs and an assistant coach back in 2000-2003 with the Spurs. He was the head coach for the Cavs from 2005 to 2010. I'm going to take a wait and see approach with the new coach. The Lakers either need to get some yound legs or just stick with what they got and just rebuild in a few years.

What a great game tonight! I'm pissed at the Heat, specifically James. But what a great game.

It'll be great once Miami wins at Dallas!

No! That was a TERRIBLE game! The Heat was UP BY 21 POINTS AND THEN WENT PROMPTLY TO SLEEP.

I was so angry. I've never been more angry at a sports game.
