I've played MvC2 for the original Xbox with that system's "S" controller, and that felt fine; using the 360 controller should be even better.
Perhaps it's because the 360 Dpad is made of fail, and because the raised convex face buttons doesn't work well for fighting games.
Not so much being convex, but they have a lot of resistance and they don't click and hence they are awful for marvel. Analog buttons are terrible and there are better control alternatives for literally every non-racing game

I am still to this day stunned that Microsoft screwed up on the easiest aspect of a controller, the D-pad. But then again the best first party Dpad this generation is on the Classic Controller.
