DSi Virtual Console Suggestion
« on: April 10, 2009, 10:46:37 AM »
Here's an idea..

Rather than have customers double dip, assuming the Dsi gets access to the Virtual Console....how about this?

Have a firmware upgrade that lets you enter in your Wii system number. Or Mi number.  That way, when you copy your virtual console games onto the card, and plug it into the DS, the DSi would recognize the signature of the Wii and you'll be able to access the games...

Would that be possible?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure DS will get handheld games and console games with stay on the Wii Virtual Console.

That said though, Nintendo already has all the info they need to link your systems, as most people use the same My Nintendo account on both shops.

Pale is right. The CB account can be used for Wii and DSi.

As for DSi VC if it ever happens... could we get the cancelled Color remakes we were denied in the GBC era? (Metroid 2...?)

I would mostly want it for Link's Awakening.

So if this is happening, do you think GB games will run you 200 points, GBC 500 and GBA 800+?

Nintendo needs to connect your Virtual games to your My Nintendo account only and not your Wii or your DS.  Then the games you buy can be downloaded onto a single Wii and DSi, or if Nintendo wants to play hardball at least your choice of either Wii or DSi.

But, right now, if you buy Wii Virtual COnsole games and you sell your Wii then you lose your entire investment.  I know I already made that mistake, and I even disconnected my Club Nintendo account from my Wii and wiped the memory.  All my games are gone...if I had understood that was going to happen I wouldn't have done that so at least the person I sold my Wii to could play the games.

Connecting it to a device instead of an account is a horrible idea Nintendo, and it makes me less likely to get into the virtual games arena again.  If Nintendo allows you to play VC games on the DSi, I will be upset, because I will have purchased over $100 in games I can't access and play.  And I won't even be able to transfer them over to Wii 2 when it comes out.

Bad form Nintendo, Bad Form.  I blame myself for the mistake, but you Nintendo should have built a better mouse trap.

I don't know how easy it would be for the Wii Virtual Console games to be playable on the DSi because of resolution differences. The games would have to be altered somehow, which is probably more effort than it is worth.
