DSi - Prefered brightness level
« on: April 06, 2009, 12:24:23 PM »
Well I got my DSi and it is fantastic. I had my DS lite shortly after it was released. I always played it on the 3rd (out of 4) brightness settings. I got great battery life and the picture was really good on my eyes. Now that the DSi has 5 brightness settings (ships out of the factory on setting 4 "high" by default) which one do you prefer? I keep switching between 3 and 4. Level 3 is rated for 6-9hrs. which is about the same as the setting I used on the DS lite--battery life wise (but its a bit darker). The 4th (default) setting of the DSi is about the same as the 3rd setting on the DS lite--brightness wise, but its only rated between 4-6 hrs.

DSi Brightness level 4 - same brightness (about) as DS lite (level 3).
DSi Brightness level 3 - same battery life (about) as DS lite (level 3).

Considering both battery life AND comfort/visibility/color, which brightness setting do you guys use on your new DSi (remember 4 is the default). Are you getting good battery life on level 4 (more than the claimed "4-6 hours" or are you getting about 4-6 hours. Thanks you for your input.

For anyone who just got a DSi, I'm wondering what brightness level you use and what kind of battery life you experience at that level (not the approx. values, but your own experience).

I'm not sure why people keep ignoring your threads.  :(  Maybe it's your horrible user name.

I don't have a DSi yet, so I can't help you.  Sorry!
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

@vudu, im sorry you think my user name is bad. I am a an Apple fan, I'm sorry if that offends you or anyone else on this board. I think the most important thing is trying to seek help to questions on the forums though, not judge other people's user names. I understand you don't have a DSi, but the user name remark was not really needed.

Going back to the DSi, I would like to know which brightness level you guys prefer and if you're getting decent battery life (same as advertised, or better/worse). Thank you everyone.

I doubt anyone has a real probelm with Macs, it's just your username looks like a bot's name.

This.

You're not on AOL where every user name ever thought up is already taken.  You don't need to put a random string of numbers at the end of your name.  Why not just Mac--it's not taken, you know.  :)

The fact that you don't have an avatar hurts, too.

Also, you might have better luck getting your question answered in this thread.

@vudu: Actually, the reason I picked that name is so it is consistent on all the internet services and forums that I use. The 430 has some significance to me. I don't see any rules that say I can't have any numbers in my user name. Oh.... and I added an avatar and some other personal information. Happy? It's pretty pathetic - I come here just to ask a question, maybe get some help and then be part of the community, but then I get bashed for my user name? It's not like I have "I hate Nintendo" for a user name or anything. I read the NWR RSS feed daily, so I figured I'd sign up for the community. I didn't realize I had to have a proper user name, avatar, and some other information so I wasn't considered a bot and/or accepted here. I mean I did type in all the words/numbers that the site registration asks for so I'm not considered a bot, in addition to not putting spam here, just a simple question about the DSi brightness. What are you, like 13 years old or something?

Anyway, for any one who would be willing to help out a new member to your community, I would really appreciate it. I just want to know what people think of the brightness / battery ratio and what brightness setting they use (and what battery life they get from it). I still can't decide between level 4 and 3 brightness. Thank you very much.

Locking this because you asked in the owners thread which is a better place for the question anyway.
