I hate to be the one to break it to you, but this movie will not be well received in the theater.
Reviews will be mixed , fans will love it, but ultimately it will not make box office bucks.
DVD sales will be sub par and no one will know why, because it was such a good movie.
It will go under-appreciated and soon forgotten by the mainstream and there will never be a sequel

I hope all of the above does not come true, but sadly, I'm probably right :(

I don't understand why you want to a sequel to a stand alone book, that's already being expanded upon.

Depending on the marketing, I think it won't be Pixar big but it might have a more than respectable run at the box office.

You know what's truly scary?  The animatronic live-band show at Chuck E. Cheese's.

At least have the decency to link to a high quality version of the trailer.

Looks promising, but I'm not really an Arcade Fire fan, so the trailer didn't do much for me.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

It'd not like you can't click the HD option on the Youtube vid.

This movie looks facking awesome.

There's something about the look of goofy, real-life, giant costumes with CG assistance that really clicks with me. (Plus, I like Arcade Fire.)

No, its being directed by Spike Jonez.
I just think its going to be a childrenz movie made for kidz in their late 20'z to early 40'z
Its not gonna click with the mainstream regardless of the critical acclaim.
I bet it even gets nominated for an award or two, but doesn't actually win anything major.

Arcade Fire doesn't have a song in the movie, just the song was remixed for the trailer.

The trailer worked well on me. I loved the book since I first laid eyes on it. I am a 30 something kid.

I think the box office take of the film will depend on what else is released around it. And hopefully directors aren't making movies just to win awards. That seems to be more of a prize for the studio and PR people.
