“Although WiiWare has been very successful for Hudson we have every intention to continue supporting Virtual Console.  We are very pleased with the service and are happy to make available products that have been fan favorites in the past.  Creating new games on WiiWare and releasing past ones on VC are two separate initiatives that we intend to support.â€

Pepe also asked which Hudson games we would like to see on the Virtual Console and offered to pass over the favorites to the development teams in Japan. Post suggestions in the comments! We’re going to compile a list and send it to Hudson next week.

Forget WiiWare, Hudson needs to get to work on Mario Party 9. The previous eight aren't enough for me.

No thank you, I think Ubisoft's annual RRR games, Mario and Sonic winter olympics will be more than enough for party games.

Those Rayman games are no Mario Party.
I can never have enough Mario games. If 2007 can handle Mario Party 8 and Mario Strikers Charged being released in the same month, 2009 can handle Mario Party 9 and Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics (Not sure if I should count the re-release of Mario Power tennis or not...).

Is Mop it up still a fan of the Mario Party series? If so that makes two of us!

You mean there are people who aren't fans of Mario Party? BLASPHEMY!

It's more like I'm a fan of Mario games in general; one of my game-collecting goals is to own every Mario game. I'm actually sort of working my way backwards through the Mario Party series, as I own 3, 7, and 8. However, most people I know won't play games on older systems (because they're worthless or some such nonsense), so I'm gonna need a Mario Party 9 to have another chance at multiplayer mayhem.

I hope this was sarcasm, even though your newer posts suggest otherwise...

Nintendo and Hudson need to dig a ditch for that godforsaken series and hide it away forever. I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike a Mario game, until Mario Party came out. First it broke my N64 control sticks, then my palms, and now it tortures my existence on a near annual basis...

In any event, yay! More Hudson VC!

I'm waiting for a TG-16 game, too. Legendary Axe was a childhood favorite of mine. I always imagined that it was a big title for the system, but its lack of VC release so far suggests otherwise. I hope it comes out so I can resume hacking at giant spiders and barrel-rolling bears and fishmen of different colors - with an axe!

Mr. Jack: I realize how that post seems sarcastic, but unfortunately it isn't. I want to see a Mario Party 9 because the Wii is the perfect reason to revitalize the series. MP8 was good but it doesn't take full advantage of the potential of Wii; only about half of the minigames use motion/pointer controls. Some sort of online mode would be a welcome addition as well. Besides, the series is immensely popular, I can't imagine Nintendo/Hudson would want to give it up just like that. In fact, one reason there may be no mention of MP9 yet is because MP8 is still selling fairly well.

I don't see how a release of Mario Party 9 would negatively affect you; if you don't like the series then don't buy the game. As I have shown with Mario Party 8, Mario Party 9 wouldn't take the place of another Mario game.

Here is how the virtual console works the platform holders license out the games from the license holders of the games and then get it ready to put on virtual console so:
Nintendo is in charge of NES,SNES,N64
Sega is in charge of SMS,Genesis
Hudson is in charge of Turbografx-16,Turboduo and if it ever came out Super Grafx
SNK Playmore for Neo Geo
And who ever is in charge of Commodore 64
