Topic: What TV Network is worse ? G4 vs MTV

I think both networks have become unwatchable shells of what they used to be with stupid programing.

I  got to vote for MTV however. I might be able able to sit and watch Attack of the show for 10 minutes randomly, maybe a little x-play but I can't watch anything on MTV for more than 90 seconds its just so bad.

G4 wasn't always a horrible network but gradually they became a garbage. I don't remember the last time MTV was worth while network. How many prank shows and extreme dating shows can be made ?

As much as I don't like the new (or recent) X-Play(s), I at least stop in to check on how the show is from time to time.  Hell, I subscribe to the AotS Podcast!  However, I don't even turn on MTV unless someone tells me there's a Daria marathon on.

I've never liked MTV, and I'm glad. I see how little kids get brainwashed into thinking whats cool and whats not and end up just not thinking for themselves. I'm sure it wasn't THAT bad starting out, when you know.. they played music, but today its just a god awful network that unless you're 12 and impressionable, you're not gonna like. Date my mom? Super Sweet 16? Really!??!

Even if they didn't have all the crappy reality or dating shows, strictly from a musical standpoint, as a musician i feel MTV does the opposite of what a Music Television channel should because it doesn't turn people on to music, it just turns them on to whats hip. Every band or artist on there is a flavor of the week and when you're conditioned to that, you'll never really learn to appreciate music and expand on what genres/styles/artists you like.

Oh, by the way, I usually hate polls like this but i just had to share how much i loathe MTV.

I don't think I've ever watched MTV but I then again, I doubt I ever would even if I had the channel. But my vote must go to G4. Unlike MTV, which has made a gradual and slow transition from what they once were to what they are now, G4 ruined a really great channel, TechTV. In fact, the only decent shows on G4 were pretty much on TechTV before. X-Play was always around on TechTV and Attack of the Show came from The Screen Savers on TechTV. Sadly, even these shows are no longer immune to the ravaging of G4. Attack of the Show was way better and funnier 2 years ago but G4 couldn't help tampering with it more and now I've stopped watching that.

I never, ever watch MTV...it is mindless trash.

Most of what is on G4 is pretty mindless as well...but at least they sometimes bring interesting shows like Ninja Warrior.  Some of the movies they show...don't suck, but still some do. 

Also, they do give you access to the tech shows and conventions that you can't get to.

Basically, G4 is television's version of the gaming media.  Often times it sucks, but it is the best we have so we watch for the occassional gems.

MTV is complete utter trash.
