Unlocking stuff is cool.  Samus getting Visor Twitters congratulating that she hasn't visited the restroom in X amount of time is not.

Packaging the NPC Metroid Primes together is a great way to do it.  Including Metroid Prime 3 kinda sucks though for anyone who wants this that already has that game.  A cheaper two-pack of just the first two games would work better.

But then odds are if you have MP3 already you probably already have MP1&2 as well and if you're interested in the NPC versions, well, you obviously like buying stuff twice anyway so I guess buying MP3 again is just par for the course.

For a newcomer this is a great package though so good job NOA.

Achievments are lame.  I think the goal of the game should be the complete it and the player decides what to him was an achievement.  So for some beating a boss that took them 10 tries was an achievement.  For others it was this cool move they pulled off or it was solving this puzzle that was driving them nuts.

This compilation is definitely being put on a dual-layer DVD.  Will systems run into more problems again?

In true 'pc' gaming fashion, everyone's a winner.

Hint system-> pat on the back every few minutes-> World of OO

Definitely a pattern

Yeah because NPC versions don't have new controls and some new features right? Just like buying the EXACT SAME GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE. Thanks for clearing that up!

That is something that was only a problem to a very small percentage of people. The majority of Wii systems (including mine) have no problem with dual-layer games (not DVDs, they are the same size but are not DVDs and yes I know I am being nitckpicky).

As for Achievements, they are optional. You are not forced to get them if you don't want.

THREE INCREDIBLE GAMES JUST GOT MORE AWESOME: METROID PRIME TRILOGY HEADS TO WII

All Three Critically Acclaimed Games Now Feature Motion Controls with Enhanced Presentation and In-Game Rewards

REDMOND, Wash., May 22, 2009 - Metroid™ Prime 3: Corruption set a new standard for first-person motion controls in video games. Now it's bringing those controls to the rest of the celebrated series, allowing players to experience the entire Metroid Prime story arc with the peerless precision of the Wii Remote™. Nintendo announces Metroid Prime Trilogy, a new premium three-game collection for the Wii™ console that bundles all three landmark Metroid Prime games onto one disc and revamps the first two installments with intuitive motion controls, wide-screen presentation and other enhancements. Metroid Prime Trilogy will be available exclusively for Wii on Aug. 24 at a suggested retail price of $49.99.

Each game maintains its original storyline and settings, but now Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes let players use their Wii Remote to aim with precision as heroine Samus Aran. Based on the breakthrough control system that debuted in Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, these new Wii controls bring an entirely new level of immersion and freedom to these milestone games.

"Metroid Prime Trilogy puts the best first-person adventures all in one place, with a host of new additions that make these three timeless titles more engaging than ever," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "A great deal of care and detail has gone into Metroid Prime Trilogy, providing longtime fans with new ways to experience the games they love."

All three games now reside on a single disc. Players can access the game they want from a unified main menu that ties together all three adventures. Through a new unlockables system, players can gain access to in-game rewards such as music and artwork by accomplishing objectives across all three games.

Metroid Prime Trilogy was developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo, the same developers that created the original games for the Nintendo GameCube™ and Wii systems.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com.

I like how they are all on one disk, not need to switch them out. I'm still shocked Nintendo isn't trying to milk each game in the franchise for $30 a piece.

Yeah because NPC versions don't have new controls and some new features right?

Easily over 90% of the content is identical.  I don't consider a "director's cut" to be a new movie, do you?  This is just the videogame equivalent of DVD double dips.

Incorrect.  This is more like a "special edition criterion digitally remastered series".  The older James Bond DVD releases look like RawMeatCowboy compared to the remastered editions.

The difference is that movies remain in print most of the time, wheras video games do not.  I can go pick up virtually any movie released on DVD within the past 15 years at my local Best Buy, but try to find a game (not called Mario Kart) that was released over a year ago, and I'm SOL.

This, and the new control scheme, is why I have no problem with Nintendo doing that, especially since I have all but given up hope for anything NEW from them that I will actually be interested in buying this year.

Exactly, my 56" widescreen is pretty small, and I sit < 10ft away from it.  I'm trying to pay attention to this immersive 3D world game, and the medal popup is LARGER THAN FREAKING LIFE.

Get out of my games, please.

When was the last time that Nintendo sold a compilation via retail? The only one I can think of is Mario All Stars!

Dr. Mario/Puzzle League on the GBA probably doesn't count, and the Nintendo Puzzle Collection never came outside of Japan.

There was the Zelda GC disk but that wasn't sold individually it was bundled with Platinum Cubes for a short time.

There was that Super Mario All-Stars and Mario World game on the SNES.

The Zelda disk was also a pre-order bonus or something. Well, I have a Zelda disk of Ocarina of Time and Master Quest that I got somehow. I don't think its the one with Majora's Mask on it.

I think I got one from preordering Wind Waker and the other was from renewing my subscription with NP which was the one with the classic Zelda games on it.

Bustin98 there was 2 Zelda disk complations. When you preordered Wind Waker you got the Master Quest/OOT disk it had various GC vids on it as well.F-Zero GX,Wario World, etc.

The other one was the Zelda GC collection disk. It had Zelda 1,Zelda 2,OOT,MM and a demo of the Windwaker. Also had a retrospective. That was bundled with GC's, You could register 2 games on Nintendo's site and you could renew your subscription to NP.

Weren't Prime 1 & 2 released in a 2-disc case at one point?  Or was that just Prime 1 + 2demo?
