Bad example.

Goto Tartget.  BWii is $15.  Go there next week, BWii is gone.  Go the week after, it's $50 and in stock.
Goto Walmart.  BWii is $50 and selling better than Wii Music.

But seriously though, you're screwed.  There's no Player's Choice coming.  The only dicount prices will be mark downs by the store itself and they aren't going to mark down a Nintendo first party title until the Wii itself is in clearance.

We're already seeing it happen. For example, BWII was $50 when it came out, but last time I checked on amazon it was only $19. If you wait long enough the same thing will happen to MP3. Regardless of what Nintendo says, the price of Wii games does drop over time. There may not be a Player's Choice per se anymore, but games do get cheaper as the demand decreases.

But Nintendo isn't supporting those price drops with price drops on their end. I don't think they're selling retailers BWii for $15, for example. In such cases, it's just a retailer having a sale, or clearing out stock.

Maybe so, but does it really matter why the price drops? Even if Nintendo doesn't support it, the point is you can get games cheaper if you wait long enough. Heck, one could consider looking in pawnshops even.

All the fancy packaging in the world won't get me to buy games I already own.  DOWN WITH WII-MAKES.  If you want me to buy a remake it has to be such an enhancement over the original game that both the old and new are worth owning.  Metroid: Zero Mission and Resident Evil on the Cube would be good examples.

i would argue that the wii controller set up for MP1 +2 will be worth buying them again (something i meantioned a while ago). maybe i just played too many FPS on the computer, but i've never been that good with the thumb thingies. the wii controllers give you a better control and should also improve the whole experience.

also, MP2 had multi-player. wi-fi anyone?

I just read the description for the different shots/motions in Mario Casual Tennis.

It looks like the game mechanices have been re-engineered.

Mario Awesome Tennis had these typical shots (away from the net):
1.  Regular Top Spin (no color)
2.  Overhead Regular Top Spin (no color)
3.  Strong Top Spin (orange)
4.  Overhead Strong Top Spin (orange)

5.  Regular Back Spin (no color)
6.  Overhead Regular Back Spin (no color)
7.  Strong Back Spin (blue)
8.  Overhead Strong Back Spin (blue)

9.  Flat (no color)
10.  Overhead Flat/"Smash" (Pink)

11.  Lob
12.  Drop Shot

Mario Casual Tennis apparently has:
1.  Strong Top Spin (orange)
2.  Strong Back Spin (blue)

3.  Flat (no color)
4.  Overhead Flat/"Smash" (Pink)

5.  Lob
6.  Drop Shot

Then you have to ask:
1.  How do you control serve direction?
2.  Serve spin type?
3.  Does the avatar act as soon as you swing (like Wii Tennis), or do they lock their feet and begin their wind-up (like Mario Awesome Tennis)?
4.  How are weak/strong swings differentiated? (relates to the wind-up mechanic in the Awesome game)

OK so it looks like Mario Casual Tennis has more depth than Wii Tennis, and less than half the depth of Mario Awesome Tennis.

NO SALE.

Seriously?
SERIOUSLY?
Srsly?

They actually simplified an already simple game? It's not like the original was Street Fighter Tennis with ten+ buttons used to make a shot! I've seen "non-gamers" (my mop I hate that term!) pick up Mario Tennis and kick some ass within minutes! And I talking about Mario Tennis for N64, with the huge three-pronged monstrosity for a controller.

I was considering buying this when it gets released but if this simplification is true then I'm just going to get the original instead. Though I may still refuse to get either one as this game phails hard for excluding Toad and Birdo as playable characters.

Ah.  All the more ammunition in my fight against Wii-makes. :)

One thing that's interesting about the Wii-makes is that they provide a clear comparison.  Mario Kart Wii has been accused as being dumbed down for casuals.  Well it's hard to prove that because it's a new game.  We can only speculate on how it would have turned out if Nintendo wasn't targetting non-gamers.  Maybe it would have been the same.  We can compare it to past Mario Kart games but we're still only guessing.

But with Wii-makes you can EASILY prove if they dumb down the game or not because the "core" version is on the Cube.  There's no speculation involved.  Offering less shots in Mario Power Tennis is factual and is clearly them removing complexity and depth from the original game.  Dumbing down becomes less of a conspiracy theory and more of a clear observation.

I'm wondering if some people that have been supportive of Nintendo's approach with the Wii will change their tune somewhat when they see their favourite Cube games compromised.

Seriously.

The Wii remote can detect movements in analog (as opposed to GCN digital button presses).  There may simply not be a need to differentiate some of these shots because there are literally a hundred ways you can hit the ball, so the coloring is just to give the opposing player a rough idea of what's coming at them.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Exactly, Wii Sports has more depth than Mario Flower Tennis, so I can't see an amalgamation of the two through the Wii-more being anything but positive.

Mario Kart Wii has been accused as being dumbed down for casuals.
The great thing about Mario Kart Wii is that it gives you the option of having drifting be performed automatically or manually. Even better is that manual is better in most circumstances because it gives you the drift boosts.

In Mario Super Sluggers, you can have fielding and base running be performed automatically or manually. In this instance as well, manual is better because the A.I. is a bit single-minded.

This is the kind of thing I would like to see in all of Nintendo's games. Include options to customize the game to be simple or complex, possibly giving the more complex way a bonus or two because it's more difficult. This kind of thing can encourage people to become more skilled at a game; start out playing it the simple way, and after you get the hang of that switch to the more complex way. This would also allow you to play multiplayer games with people who have never played the game before and still give them a chance to win.

I hope the Mario Power Tennis Wiimake has some such option. After you learn how to hit the ball correctly in Wii Sports Tennis, there's nowhere to go from there.

Wii Pong has no drop shots or blocking.  All it recognizes are a swing and 180-degree twists.  Hell, to do anything there has to be a swing, which eliminates any sense in having blocking moves / drop shots since every hit is destined to be a complete stroke.  On top of that, the retarded Miis move on their own, eliminating any footwork psychology that's been key to crushing any opponent since the N64 game.

This entire tragedy is like Dead Rising reduced to 5 zombies at any given moment.

NinGurl, why don't you like Achievements? I love them (except for when they are done poorly like in Dead or Alive Xtreme 2).

This is great. I was planning on getting New Play Control! Metroid Prime and was thinking about New Play Control! Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I already have Metroid Prime 3: Corruption though.

I wonder if Metroid Prime 3 gamesaves will carry over to this one. I am also disappointed that we won't get the voiceovers that were added to the Japanese release of NPC! Metroid Prime.

I don't care about achievements either way, they really have no reward attached to them besides stroking someone's ego (Unless they are set up like MP3 where you get to unlock stuff).
