R.i.P. Majel Barrett

Not sure how many of you heard but Gene Roddenberry's widow passed away today. It is truly sad to see this, I enjoyed her character quite a bit as Deanna Troy's mother, and I am sure other Star Trek fans will be disheartened by the news.

That's a shame.  Well, Star Trek's dead now.  You simply can't have Star Trek without her voice calmly telling you how long until the giant space wedgie destroys the ship.  :(

I did not see this. That really sucks. I will need a weekend of nothing but Star Trek.

I was watching Voyager last night just before i went to sleep and this is the first thing i read. I can't imagine anyone else doing the computer voices.

It's weird that she died so soon after recording her lines as the computer voice in the new movie. She was really good as Number One in The Cage/The Menagerie, Nurse Chapel in the Original Series, and Lwaxana Troi in Deep Space 9 in addition to her computer voice. Plugabugz is right, I don't know how they'll be able to replace her in any future Trek.
