I'm still confused as to how this all works. If i reach platinum before the next Club Nintendo year, do i retain platinum status (or any points for that matter?) cuz i haven't redeemed any of my points yet, and June is coming up quick!

You need to earn at least 600 coins in one calendar year in order to reach Platinum status.  If you have Platinum status at the end of the Club Nintendo year (currently June 30) you will get a special prize.  We don't know what that prize will be yet.

You can spend any coins you've accumulated over the course of the year and it will not affect your yearly coin total.  For example, if you're registered enough stuff to get 500 coins you would be a Gold member.  If you buy the DS Lite case for 400 coins your current balance would be 100 coins but you would keep your Gold status.  If you earn another 100 coins you would be bumped up to Platinum status and your current balance would be 200 coins.

At the end of the Club Nintendo year, any current balance you have carries over to the next year, but you still need to earn another 600 coins between July 1, 2009 and June 30, 2010 in order to achieve Platinum status again.

If you log into Club Nintendo you can click on See Details under the Current Balance section (left side of screen) to see how many coins you've earned for the current year.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

So basically I'd keep my coin/points roll over but status must be perpetually increased? Got it

All I am seeing are 6 post-play surveys. Surveys are only worth 10 coins each. So you have 60 coins waiting. You would need 20 surveys waiting to get 200 points.

I guess your right, I read the chart wrong. But why are all of those listed on the To-Do-List if there is nothing to do?

Besides, with the games that are about to be bought between now & christmas, I'm sure I'll have Platinum status before 2009 is done.

I've had games appear on my to do list contains lots of games with no actions either. I think any game you register that earns you points is on the to-do list, even if there is nothing you can do.

WiiWare and VC games will appear on your to do list after a few days even though there is nothing to do yet. Then after like three weeks a post-play survey will appear.

I broke the 600 coin mark with Animal Crossing. I just joined the Platinum Club! Hope the prizes are good.

I wonder if the Platinum Status prize will be the same as what Japan will get for this year, or if it will be some of the stuff which Japan got for the previous years?

In 2006 they gave out television remotes shaped like a Wiimote:
http://kotaku.com/gaming/wii_mote/its-a-tv-remote-its-a-wii+mote-no-its-a-tv-remote-207030.php

It's cool, but it isn't something which I would want.

In 2007 they gave a choice of three prizes: Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, Super Famicom-styled Classic Controller, or a calendar (who would choose a calendar???)

http://gakuranman.com/club-nintendo-hanafuda/

I'd take the controller, that'd be awesome.

In 2008 the choices were: an "authentic" Mario cap, a golden Wii Wheel, and a calendar (seriously???)

http://gakuranman.com/club-nintendo-member-gifts-2008/

I'd get the gold wheel because I'm sure I'd look goofy in the Mario hat.

In any case, I'm looking forward to it!

I like the idea of choice. Yeah its free, but I agree WHO WANTS A CALENDAR ! I mean to earn that many points it cost a good amount of money and loyalty. Give us something special.

It isn't NES, it's Super NES!
If you got the Mario cap you couldn't half-way it. You'd have to get a fake mustache (if you can't grow a suitable one) and red overalls too. And a taste for ravioli. And some way to throw fireballs. Pics must follow.

I already have a 'stache. And a rather manly one too if I do say so myself! ;) Though it strikes me more as a constable or investigator mustache than a Mario one. I could try to breath fire. Or I could throw a Molotov. Though it might impact what I do next Halloween.

Breathe fire? What are you doing, auditioning for Bowser? Mario throws fireballs. With the power of a flower. Flower Power! Maybe you could rig something up involving a blowtorch?

Well, the bachelor party I'm going to this Saturday is supposed to have a fire dancer, so I could ask her how to wield fire.

I would love to have the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, or a Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack.

Maybe a Virtual Console compilation disc (like the 2 Xbox Live Arcade discs).

I've seen some mods online to make an N64 controller work with the GC/Wii

There are also cables for sale that you can use to make an N64 cable connect to a GC. Though with the one I found you had to choose from one of a pre-programmed set of button layouts.
