Alot of my favorite games were kind of fetch quests (DKC 2 and 3 come to mind), but after Donkey Kong 64 was destoryed because of this element, I hated fetch quests. However, Prime's fetch quest was decent, and it did bring about a small sense of accomplishment. I still hated it though.

"If you follow the main path on the ship, you only need about half of them to get the code to access the last planet."

I stand corrected.

"Of course if you don't follow the main path and end up using your fuel cells on an alternate room first, then I'd imagine you will need all to finish the game."

How would I *know* the main path the first time I make my way through?  Luck?  This is Metroid.  I turn off hints.

I said no because I'm not a tool that buys stuff I already own.  But then I actually like the way Metroid Prime 1 & 2 play.  I don't like how Nintendo made Metroid Prime 3 for close minded rubes who think first person = first person shooter.  To me Metroid Prime 3 is the one with the crappy controls.  Metroid is very similar to Zelda except the whole place is like one huge dungeon and the viewing perspective is different.  So it controlling kind of like the 3D Zelda games made perfect sense to me.

I don't want it online because then Nintendo will point to this and say "here's your online FPS" when it clearly f*cking isn't one.  Now they'll probably NEVER make a good online FPS ever anyway because, well, that's not Nintendo's style.  But at least then I won't have Reggie making up BS.

If I could convince Nintendo to cancel all these stupid Wii-makes I would.  The Animal Crossing "Wii-make but we pretend that's it not" that just came out shows that Nintendo WILL release stuff like this in place of a real game.  This is probably exactly what Retro is currently working on.  Not something new, not even Metroid Prime 4, but THIS.  I wouldn't buy it for 1 cent out of principle.

Next year is going to be the year of the Wii-make and we're going to get totally shafted on original content as a result.  You buy this and that is YOUR fault.  It happened on the GBA (Metroid Fusion is the only non-port first party GBA game of 2002) and it will happen here.

Um, what?  Just how was the game any different from its predecessors?  The ONLY difference is that enemy patterns were layered to take advantage of the ability to look up easier...Try to come up with a more convincing attack on the motion controls...

Mmmmm...Baseless speculation...Hey, wait a second, this sounds familiar...

If they were cheap I would. I have no need for the online parts of them. I did get a lot of enjoyment out of Echo's multiplayer though. I just know i'd never play online.

There's no evidence that these Wii ports are being done by the original teams.  Chances are Nintendo created a special team just to make all these ports so it wouldn't slow down the main studio's.  All the Mario ports on the GBA as well as Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros were done by a completly different team that was new to working on Mario games.  The old Mario team responsible for all the classic Mario games like Bros 3, World and 64 spent their time making Sunshine, DK: Jungle Beat and recently Galaxy.

Plus the Link to the Past GBA port in 2002 was done by Flagship which was a Capcom studio, while Nintendo's own internal Zelda team focused on Wind Waker.

Bologna.  Control-wise, all they did was let you look around more easily, which is highly conducive to exploration, which is what Metroid is all about.  Corruption did feel too first person shooter-y to me, but the controls aren't to blame.  The first Prime with Corruption's control scheme would be like the best 3D Metroid yet.

Metroid Prime is mostly an exploration game. Exploring it with different controls doesn't change much in my opinion. I won't rebuy the game, not even if it's cheap.

I have the first one for GC, so I wouldn't pick it up again. I am very interested in the second one as a remake, since I never had a chance to buy it. The used price never went down below $20, and the new price probably isn't more than that.

They're retaining MP2 multiplayer?... Why? WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT TO US AGAIN? OH GOD!

I can still remember, back in the trenches after Metroid Prime came out. "Oh it should've had multiplayer like Halo" "I hope MP2 has multiplayer! I'm so good at it!" And I'm there like. "NO! NOOOOO!" But they shouted me down "oh you don't know anything noob" And I'm like "I played Half Life on PS2, the deathmatch was a joke! Co-op was fun though. If they do any multiplayer they should do co-op" and the same people would turn around "Oh but Metroid is all about being alone on a planet, I could never co operate with someone to play it." And then I'd cry.

But then Metroid Prime 2 came along, with tacked on multiplayer and it was fucking awful, just as I predicted. I never did hear from those faggots again, I can only assume they're pwning noobs in Metroid Hunters and thinking what a great game it is.

Metroid Prime 2 multiplayer was really fun, if you had 4 decent players. Just check out this video of me and my friends in an epic battle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yn7ROZfrZUw&feature=channel_page
haha, if they keep the multiplayer I'll definately get it.
Would be sweet if they added more levels + online.

I am disappointed they did not bundle Pikmin 1+2 together in the Play it on the Wii.  I doubt they will pack in Metroid Prime 1+2 which is a shame because they should.  If they don't I may only consider getting the first Prime.

I have Metroid Prime 1 and 3.  2 never really appealed to me and I'll admit I never actually finished the first one.  I did however finish 3 100%.
Unless they're dirt cheap I have no intention of picking them up.

This is the idea.

Metroid Prime 1 + 2 ported to Wii with motion controls from Metroid Prime 3.

The multiplayer levels and modes that were in present in Prime 2 would return, however so would all the levels and modes that Metroid Prime Hunters for DS had.

So it would be 1-4 online. All the Echoes levels, all the Hunters levels. All the other bounty hungers from Hunters (re-balanced now) . It would be WiiSpeak enabled.

Control style: Wiimote and Nunchuck or if you want GAMECUBE whatever you wish. So you could mix and match during multiplayer, and in single player you could change it to play Dual Stick style if you wish.

Single player for Prime 1 and 2 would be identical, if any area in those games were choppy it would now be fixed. It would have a hardcore mode where save points do NOT regenerate health, but health found in the wild would replenish more life. That is an optional mode at the start of the game if you wish to play in that.

So does that sound like a great deal ? Or No ?

This is what I want since I'm replaying the entire Metroid Series and since that's what I'm doing I can live without online play, but a co-op sounds good to me. All I want to know is when it's coming here so I can continue the story already!

i cannot stand the dual thumb control of consul first person games. yes, i got ok with it after years of metriod and starwars battle front, but the fact is that i've played too much with a mouse. i can be more precise and more efficent with the mouse.

so when i saw the wii control scheme way back when all i thought was FPS on nintendo all over again. naturally i have been dissappointed with the turn-out (see, i forgot FPS players prefer graphixxx over, you know, playing the game, silly me) but still i have my fingers crossed.

somewhere in my posts you'll find me commenting on this before it was announced, yes, yes and yes, i am getting these games. mp1 and mp2 were fun games, but with the mp3 controls alone they will be worth getting any playing again. yes, i realize that means i will have paid $80+ for each game, but i am ok with that.

hell, there were people who paid more than that for halo2. and well, it sucked.
