I loved this last year and I'm in again this year. Now I've got to find some VC games that I haven't bought yet.

Whats the Wiipoint limit?

Your fellow forum goers (mainly vudu i think) have been suggesting 15wp maximum, but i think if everyone includes a game or two from every system on the VC in their wishlist, it'll be fair to those who might not be able to afford some of the pricier games.

I'm on advocate of the 1,500 point suggested value because it means no systems get left out.  If you choose 1,000 points your only real options are one N64 game, two NES games or one WiiWare game.  (A NEOGEO game is also a possibility, I suppose because 900 points is close enough).  But that means that SNES and Genesis games are pretty much SOL which is insane considering most of the best VC games are available on those systems.  It also means that World of Goo is a no-go, which is the one game everyone needs to buy for one another.  ;D

And if you say 500 points then the vast majority of people are just going to buy a NES game (or if they're feeling saucy a TG-16 game).  Almost no one is going to spend $10 when they only expect to receive $5 in return.

Upping the limit allows people to get creative.  It games I can get someone a very safe choice (e.g. Secret of Mana) and an "out-there" choice (e.g. Chew Man Fu).
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I see where you're coming from, but the simplest and fairest way is to NOT impose a set limit of Wiipoints to give. Times are tough man, I don't know about you but I'm on of the many Americans questioning whether or not I'll be employed come New Years Day (I work at a car dealership and so far like 5 Salesmen have been laid off, why would they not fire me when my job is less important than that?). To say everyone participating MUST purchase X amount of wiipoints and expect them to give all of them is just wrong.

I said this once and i'll say it again i love being a turle if everyone puts a game or two from every system on the VC, your Secret Santa will have a range of price options to choose from. Its simply the fairest way, and it worked out fine last year, no?

I guess, but I fully expect most people to gift NES games.

That's not how Secret Santa works.

Also, just an FYI, I'm leaving for vacation on December 19 and won't be back until December 28.  Ideally, I would like to send out my presents before I leave, but that will mean I'll need to have all my receiver's info by December 18 at the latest.

I'll keep sign-ups open till some time next week, but i'm not sure the exact cut off date yet. I'll make an announcement at least 1 day in advance so its not a surprise to anyone.

UPDATE!

I've added a list of all the participants (so far) to the OP, I'll try to add in friend codes as well (to make things easier until we get things rolling soon enough).

Oh and by the way:

Quote from: From the Original Post
PS. Sorry for the mishap before, I'll explain shortly

Hm, about that. Not sure if it was ever explained or not so I might as well add a li'l more meat to this post and do it here and now. BnM started that silly rant thread in the funhouse as way to stir things up on these, as of lately, dead boards. It was going to lead to an introduction of the Second Annual Secret Santa thread, but I'd never received the email he sent me prior to making his thread, so I ended up making the first Secret Santa thread, which i changed at his request to the My Story Time Thread. There, now you have the full story behind the confusion that happened there.

Oh and that reminds me:

I've updated my profile with my new preferred email address so feel free to email me any questions/concerns there, or of course you can always PM me (though my mobile email is the most convenient means of reaching me)

Can I suggest something?

In the spirit of giving, what if we use the 1500 Wii Points not as a maximum, but as a restriction. Meaning that you have to buy and give up to 1500 Wii Points. That way, you may give/receive more than one (or two or three in some cases) games.

What do you think?
