Author Topic: Mario Kart GC New Pictures (Read 6753 times)

I was searching the net and I found something very interesting on google. I typed in mario kart and then clicked over a few times and I see some new mario kart GC SCREEN SHOTS from the new Mario Kart game. Now me and my friend were arguing if these pictures were real so I sent in a letter to IGN and asked them but so far they havent answered so I thought I would let you guys decide. This is a french site it looks like and me not being good at french I cant understand a word of it.

But the Screen Shots look like either a really weird looking koopa troopa in a kart or a bowser kid... ludwig von koopa... But from what I see this is looking pretty good. If anyone can translate the words for us we would be much obliged.

Then click on [gamecube] under consoles on the left hand side of the page a little way down.

Then click on [preveiws gamecube] under the giant GAMECUBE word.

Then scroll down in [Catalogue Gamecube] and click on [Mario Kart NGC]

and then scroll down to the 3 screen shots and tell me what you think.

Sorry guys I would post a direct link but this would just end up getting locked for bandwidth theft.

Same Old Same Old with better graphics. TELL ME WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT MARIO KART?

?? I would much rather play a realistic racing game like Gran Turismo 3 or something else then mario kart. Midnight club 2 looks really sick. I mean I've had Mario Kart 64 and Mario Kart Advance and I still see no good out of the game. The pictures do look real though.

These screenshots have been floating around the net for quite some time now. Either fakes, or screen grabs of the small amount of FMV Nintendo tried to pass off as in-game footage at E3 2001.

Are you sure because at E3 2001 the screen shots looked way different and the character models and vehicles looked different also. And didn't it only feature Mario and Luigi? And I haven't seen them before so I guess I am a little late. Oh well.

Woah, so you've played Mario Kart GC, AdvancedGamer? Can you tell us about it? What's the button lay-out? What new stages and characters does it have? What are some new gameplay modes? Oh, so you HAVEN'T played it? Odd, from your comment. I could've sworn you did, seeing as you made a statement ABOUT how the game plays. Hmm... maybe next time you should reserve opinions about a game for when you've actually PLAYED it.

Anyway, I'm prett those pictures are new- the E3 video from way back when showed Mario racing from the front on a black backround. Those pictures show an actual course, follow Mario from behind, and have effects. They look a bit blurry, but otherwise great. I hope it's good!

I agree... I think they are new aswell but doesn't it look like a koopa in the kart?

Indeed, it does look like a Koopa (I didn't get a clear shot the first time because I accidently closed my browser

). He's also got a green shell trailing behind him (which looks mighty fine, I might add). I really want to see more at E3.

The reason everyone loves Mario Kart is for the same reason you dissed it. Its not supposed to be realistic, its great fun with a couple of friends of yours, just to have a good time racing each other and knocking each other around with weapons.... simulation racers lack the fun that I like in Mario Kart...

Actually these pictures have shown up before on the net. But it was way before E3 though. when nintendo first annouced they were developing the dolphin many people were quick to make mock up drawing of what it would look like. Not only were system picture showing up but picks of games showed up also. these are fakes done by someone a while ago with skills in 3d apps.

Well AdvancedGamer I see your point although I don't share your opinion. I enjoy Mario Kart, I dont' know what it is about the game but its just fun. I'm assuming the GC will have some new features if you not your right why play it if its just like the others. As for you other point, I'm wondering the same thing. Nintendo either needs to get off their ass and make GT style racer, have a second party do it, or a third party. There is gaping hole in the GC lineup with it comes to sim style racers. Its the biggest hole in the GC lineup. Most of the other holes in the GC lineup are being filled as we speak. I don't see anything on the horizon when I comes to GT styled racers. Well GT Cube looks interesting but I seriously doubt it will have any American cars in it and thats my biggest gripe with Sega GT and Gran Turismo. They have the most obscure Japanese vehicles and don't even have the most basic American cars. Sorry about getting off topic. Back to the topic, I seriously doubt Mario Kart for GC will be online...it probably will use the yet unseen LAN ability of the GC.

Well if you wanted a realistic type of driving game you'd better explain WTF you're playing any Mario Kart in the first place. I play Mario Kart knowing I'll hear funny voices when my turtle shells hit my MULTIPLAYER (read: MULTIPLAYER) opponents, leading me to laugh in maniacal ecstasy. I also tend to know shite about cars, but Burnout 2 is a great looking semi-realistic type of racer with a nice sense of speed and wonderful crash mechanics.

sadly, i think they are fake. i saw these same pics a while back. but what i didnt notice last time was that the text was in english. most early screens we see of nintendo games have japanese text. sadly, i believe these are fake. it would be nice if they were real, but no.

Id prefer Mario Karts GCN to be celshaded like Wacky Races for DC was.
Perhaps Nintendo would like to be unique (shock horror yes Im being sarcastic)
However I would take the unpredictability of Mario Karts especially against 3 friends anyday over the realistic & sometimes lack-of-fun GT series, especially when the GT series keeps recycling its same old tracks.

Note Nintendo has no current plans to show any games at E3 that will feature Online Play and Mario karts is confirmed to not be Online Playable. This does suck but why on earth cant they implement LAN play the cube is so small Ive carried it many times on the go with no noticeable evidence I had a console and accessories on me.

2003 = The Year of the Fund Q & Triforce.
